being reported by footballscoop.com/news/tim-beckman-has-been-let-go/not exactly a reliable source...but it true, they most have discovered something not publicly known regarding the investigation into allegations that he mistreated some players. timing is very strange.

pbs.twimg.com/media/CNhATGSWUAA1-g5.pnglooks like they wanted to proactively fire him for being a jerk before it became publicly known that he's a jerk. best twitter comment so far: Evil James Franklin @jamesfrankwin "To think, all those State College hotel reward points he had are going to go to waste."

Ron Zook is selling cars in Orlando so he is available for a comeback bid.....
Somebody asked in another thread how many Zook recruits started in the BCSNCG between UF and tOSU. The answer: 22 of 24 starters
The Zooker may not win more than 6 or 7 games, but that better than what Illinois usually does and, as an excellent recruiter, he would leave the cupboard full of talent if things didn't work out.

That's what he is best at.

That's what he is best at. During Zook’s tenure, the school compiled a 25-15 overall record, including a 16-8 mark in Southeastern Conference play. Florida reached a bowl game in each season under his direction, including a second consecutive Outback Bowl in 2003, when they earned a share of the SEC East Division title. That season, the Gators faced the second-toughest schedule in the nation, a slate that included seven ranked opponents, and reeled off wins over ranked teams in three consecutive weeks for the first time in school history. In 2004, Zook’s final season, the Gators finished atop the SEC in six different team categories, including scoring offense, total offense and passing offense. That year, they also became just the second team in the history of the storied conference to boast the league’s leading rusher, passer, receiver and scorer in the same season.
Might be pretty good at other parts of the game too.

That's what you'd think. Nizzou's rise has closed up St L. Wisky does well in St L, always has, going back to Fletcher and off course Montee. The problem in E St L is getting into school. Everyone recruits Windy. ND, MSU, Meat, NW, Iowa, Indy and Wisky. All are almost as close or closer. They recruit OK but if you're a top lineman do you go to IL or ND/Wisky/MSU? If each picks a cpl not a lot left over, at the elite level. Perception doesn't help. Plus Chicago never embraced IL FB at least when I lived there. Maybe Harry knows better. Chicago is almost its own state. It's a Pro town first.

There are a lot of weird things in Illinois...based on location, and the fact that the Illini do on occasion put together a decent season, I'd vote that the administration of the school is not right...

Might be pretty good at other parts of the game too. Remember what team we're talking about here...he did say Special... you remember Special Ed from when you were in school? This was timely, but I missed it when I was in Birmingham. Pat Dooley of the Gainesville Sun perspective on Ron Zook post Will Muschamp: Dooleys Desk Ron Zook, revisited Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 6:20 by Pat Dooley Sometimes it’s all about the timing. Ron Zook followed the greatest coach in UF football history. Florida won six SEC titles under Steve Spurrier and contended every year. Spurrier threw the ball all over the field and changed everything about the way the game was played. And he won every press conference. Zook told us all in his first press conference how he wasn’t Steve Spurrier. he must have said it 15 times. Then, he proved it. But what if Zook followed Will Muschamp? What if he won 16 games in his first two years and had an offense that was much better than the ground-and-sputter offense of his predecessor? What if he won at LSU, at Tennessee, twice against Georgia in his first two seasons? Would he have even been on the hot seat? If Jim McElwain goes 16-10 in his first two seasons, is the Gator Nation going to lose its mind? This doesn’t point out the negatives of the Zook administration — the blown game at Miami, the oh-fer bowl record, the inexplicable loss to Ole Miss — but it is at least worth rethinking how he was vilified because he was following a legend instead of a guy who lost 14 of his last 24 games as Florida’s coach. No statue required.
