Has really sucked this year. How do you go from league mvp to this bad in the off season? Usually a SB loss propels a player to work harder in the off season. word is Cam wasn't dedicated to improvment. He got his 100mil contract and now all he wants to do is throw parties and but new cloths. Never really liked the guy after hearing what an immature baby he is in the locker room thru local reporting here. Imo Derek Anderson (his back up) would play better

Any chance that Cam Newton is suffering from a post-concussive syndrome?
Sometimes the sequelae of traumatic brain injuries are subtle-- mood and motivational problems, and impaired executive functions, etc.
(As an example, I have been watching Colorado Buff's senior QB, Sefo Liufau, throughout his collegiate career, and I strongly suspect that Liufau has been impaired by some sort of post-concussive syndrome during the past several weeks. His executive decisions and quickness in the pocket are not what they used to be at the beginning of the 2016 season.)

I don't know about all that, I'll trust the team doctors and trainers are on top of things. what I do know is that he doesn't put in the time (according to an anonymous source close to a radio personality in Charlotte) on his fundamentals and the film study. He's come a long way from the moody, reckless, towel over his head pouter on the side lines. He does donate money to local charities and conducts yearly fund raisers, visits childrens hospitals, which are all admirable things. But football is what got you there, you're paid 20 million per year, don't forget to do the little things it takes to be great. Practice makes perfect

Cam Newton is a new father. When men become fathers, it changes them.

Interesting topic. Someone did a study a few years ago showing that most men gain weight and become less physically fit after becoming fathers.
I've been there and done that. Working all day, then trying to spend time with the kids-- instead of playing tennis, skiing, etc.
I used to use a double jogger stroller to run around the park with my daughters, but didn't exercise nearly as much as I had done before they were born.

You found a way to exercise and at the same time spend time with your daughters. That was a conscious decision, but what about other things that happened to your brain and body? Did you notice anything, or were the changes too subtle?

Cam Newton is a new father. When men become fathers, it changes them. So becoming a father has caused him to not be as good at football? Tell thet to Tom Brady, Peyton Manning....plenty of great players have kids so thats baloney Lady

There will be further studies that either replicate or debunk this idea. C biscuit, have you had your oxytocin today? Didn't think so.

Tom Brady wasn't married to the mother of his first child. That might have helped his game.
Does Brady have any children with Giselle Bundchen?
I still wonder if Cam Newton has a significant post-concussive syndrome. Cam has probably experienced a lot more blows to the head than Brady or Manning, because he is able to run the ball.
Have you ever watched Tom Brady and Peyton Manning try to run?

Last year the panthers constantly gave the offense great field position. Newton played w a lead more often than not. This year they were behind and having to drive the length of the field. That didn't help.

Luke Keachly being out the last 6 games hurt too as did the loss of the center Kalil, Orr and another guy on the O-line
