Good news to be 2-0, but I doubt I end up as well as the first week last season when I opened 8-2. I'm also just back from B'ham where I received good news on the health front. The BMT Unit won't turn me loose because I have an irregular PT scan, but it's better than 9 months ago. It either continues to be inflamed tissue as determined by a biopsy surgery last December or it's extremely slow growing cancer. So far I have two negative biopsies so we will just wait and watch. Chemo can't be justified as it would be like using a cannon to shoot a gnat at this time. The upstart of all of this is I have a clear mind to enjoy the season. You guys better be on your game because I'm going to do better than last season when I finished in 6th place. For anyone who might be curious, I'm Terry, not Marc or Robb. We'll tell you what yer name is mister !!! P.S. Good news on the good news ....Definatly hope its not cancer....Prayers go with ya

My B'ham oncologist in the BMT unit continues to be confounded. I used her surgical oncologist last December when it was determined to be inflamed tissue, not cancer. She was sure it was cancer. The results of yesterdays PT scan still show the same irregularities, but not as "hot." She is stuck in the middle with me as she can't justify another biopsy surgery or chemo. As far as I'm concerned, in the absence of bad news, it's good news. While none of the doctors I work with have an explanation for the inflamed tissue, it's not cancer. I'll be darned if I'm going to spend any time worrying about it.

Terry, I go in for my 7th PT on the 8th. Mine's been "hot" for quite some time now, been in treatment since '99. regardless of what they actually determine, research the compound LDN. Low Dose Naltrexone. Something surely isn't right if the PT is showing areas of high uptake of the radio-sugar. something in the tissue is consuming high quantities of it. Inflamation is normally a histamine response to injury/infection/etc. Inflamed tissue alone shouldn't be sucking up the sugar.

The only trouble is the December biopsy didn't reveal anything more than inflamed tissue in the spot that was the most worrisome. Since then, it has gotten less hot to boot. Normally, patients 3 years out from a stem cell transplant are on different action plans than the one I'm on. Because of the irregular PT, she is having me follow up while everyone else is being treated or released from the program. Good luck to you on the 8th. I hope you have a good result.

My doctor told me that as a rule of thumb, cancer never gets smaller on its own so if yer "less hot", I would think that's a good thing

LSU had a nice comeback win, but didn't cover the spread. I'm 5-4 going into the Miami at Louisville game on Labor Day night. Go candy canes.
My disappointment of the day was having the Navy defense fold up in the second half. I knew the midshipmen couldn't win, but I thought they'd cover the spread.
UCLA? Where the heck was their offense? The bruins had 3 defensive scores to keep from losing the game.
UGALY looked about like what I thought they would. The poodles will be a tough out this season. With all due respect to bama, UGALY has the best RB group in the SEC and likely the nation. Todd Gurley is the best RB in the nation.
FSU and bama didn't look like Final Four teams. Yes, it's the first game so I expect both to improve greatly from game 1 to game 2. This season is going to be interesting.

The only teams that looked like the hype against teams with a pulse were LSU, TAMU, and UGA. Everyone else either played nobody or looked less than sharp. First game of the season though....long way to go. And I believe the saying goes that the most improvement for a team is from week 1 to week 2.

At this point I'm just glad to have 5 right so I'm guaranteed not to start the year with a negative score.

With the Miami loss, I'm 5-5. 5-5=0 - not a good start.
