I'm hating on VT in the pick'em contest. I'm 1-3 picking VT with my only win being the upset at tOSU:

Week 8 - Lost
Week 4 - Lost
Week 3 - Lost
Week 2 - Won

I keep picking VT like they still have a good team. I guess old habits are hard to stop. VT at -2 is almost single handedly putting me below the Mendoza line.

Seeing this, and giving it some thought, here's my thought on this matter.

Even though it was brought up in the discussions leading up to the Rules and Regulations, questions of absentee picks didn't make the final list of rules. Here's how I see it.

If you're out of the state, or country for an extended period to the point where you can't get an internet connection to make your picks, if you let me know in advance...you can utilize some other mechanism for making those picks...whether it is the laser eyed dog, flipping a coin, a magic 8 ball, or a cat...or you just call them into someone else and have them list them for you. Here's what we're NOT going to do:

1. We aren't going to let another player make your picks for you. That is inherently unfair and can result in one player manipulating the results of another player.

2. This rule only exists for extended periods of absence. OU let us all know several days in advance that he would be gone and needed to have some help putting something together. Fact is, I put the picks up on Wednesday afternoon at the latest. You have 24 hours to find time to make those picks, and unless you're out of town, there's no reason you can't find the time to make them. Having someone else make the picks on Thursday afternoon because you suddenly realize you can't make it isn't going to fly. I recognize emergencies, it happens...but "I just got too busy" simply isn't good enough.

With that said, since there was an ambiguity in the rules, I'm going to let Lee's picks on behalf of Coal stand for this week only. However, for future weeks, both for them and everyone else, it'll be a zero for the week.

TRN is a lawyer and as you know, lawyers often work within parameters that are already established or precedents that have already been ruled on.

In THIS case, Harry has already set the precedence and it has been approved by the board AND The Administrator. Harry is away right now, so Walter's CAT is making his picks for him.

I'm with ET....I can't get VT's history and Beamer's successes out of my head when I pick.
But, last night may have cured me; all they've got that impressed me at all last night was a D Secondary. The offense is flat awful and the D front 7 is just average as well.

Trn, think you should make a separate post on this others making your picks business just to be clear and make sure everyone gets the scoop from the head douche. I agree that the next time it happens without cause and prior permission that it should be 0-15 for the week.
