sorry for the tardiness. december's a busy time work-wise, add in christmas activities and impending grandfatherhood (i'm still searching for the maturity required of a father) and it adds up to needing a couple extra hours daily. December 20, 2014 UTEP +10 v. Utah State: 2 similar teams who run the ball pretty well and play pretty decent d. utep went 5-19 su the last 2 years previous to this year, so the miners are one of the most improved teams in the country. cfb nerd bowl stat #1-non new year's day bowl dogs of +7/more (w/a winning record) are 33-10-4 ats since '80 vs teams off a regular season finale loss. utep Nevada -1 v. Louisiana-Lafayette: a virtual home game for the cajuns, just a couple hour trip to new orleans. nevada is 0-6-1 off a win in bowl games, their head coach is 1-8 su vs .600+ foes, and the game will be starting at 10am local time... 8am on the body clock for the wolfpack. la-lafayette. Utah -3 v. Colorado State: rams come into w/o coach mcelwain, who's now in gainesville. bowl dogs w/interim coaches are 8-15 ats lately. csu had a great season, but utah's d, especially its front 4, is just too good. utes. Western Michigan +1 v. Air Force: wmu has played football since 1906. broncos are still looking for bowl win #1 (0-5 su all time). the academies are 26-12 ats in bowls, 19-4 ats vs .600+ opponents. plus the falcons have some experience playing on boise's blue turf. that matters too. air force. South Alabama -2 1/2 v. Bowling Green: 1st ever camellia bowl, 1st ever mtg between the two schools, 1st ever bowl game for s.alabama, just about 150 miles from campus. both teams played awful in november, and that makes giving points look unattractive to me. bgsu. December 22, 2014 BYU +1 v. Memphis: another 1st ever mtg. and a win gives memphis its 1st-ever 10 win season. tigers had a great year, but byu has played tougher competition overall. cougars. December 23, 2014 Northern Illinois +10 v. Marshall: most attractive bowl game of the first week imho. herd is loaded w/talent on offense but may be disappointed being in boca raton instead of a new year's venue. as a dog of 12/less since 2010, niu has not only covered all 7, they've won all 7. huskies. Navy +2 1/2 v. San Diego State: you'd think, w/this game being played in san diego, on the aztecs' home field, that the middies would be at a disadvantage. but the largest naval base in the usa is just a couple miles away. the visiting team will have lots of support. the visitors are also the best running team in the country, and the least penalized team. sdsu coach rocky long schemes well vs option attacks, but he's just 2-6 ats in bowls. navy. December 24, 2014 Central Michigan +3 1/2 v. Western Kentucky: mac teams are 7-25-1 ats since '08 in bowls. wku has a great offense and tissue paper-thin defense. expect a high scoring game in the bahamas. unconfident lean to the chippewas. Fresno State +2 v. Rice: what do you get for going 6-7? a trip to honolulu for the hawaii bowl, if you're fresno state this year. rice turned around their season after starting 0-3, but the bulldogs played better competition. mild upset... fresno state. so it is written, so it shall be done. yeah i know... wrong over-budget movie. |

Folks,
I would like to enter this Douche Bowl Mini-Tournament to improve on my 1-1 CFB Bowl Mania record, and avenge my 2013 loss to Max and Walter.
That said, I have only watched three of these 1st round NCAA bowl teams play football this year--Colorado State, Utah, and Air Force. I know next to nothing about most of these other teams, but who does? The Hilltoppers? Is this Bowling Green squad from Kentucky or the other place?
The CSU Rams handled Colorado in Week One at Sports Authority Field, and Colorado lost to Utah by 4 points after giving up a pick six in the 4th quarter.
So, I have a hunch that the Rams could surprise the Utes. However, they will be playing without Coach McElwain.
