Manning tonite. Couple picks I think. I don't believe he threw more than 2 balls that traveled more than 20 yards in the air. And, yes, they were playing Detroit. That said, impressive performance. That last td pass to Daniels, and adjusting the play/blocking scheme at the los, was pretty sweet. Classic Peyton. It was nothing like an average Peyton Manning game from 2013 or 2014, but he did throw for 300+ yards and 2 TDs-- ending with a QB rating of 101 for the night.
The Broncos continue to have no running game.
Their defense is carrying the team so far in 2015.
Bradley Roby is having a break out year.

Denver's defense is what it's all about.

Denver's defense is what it's all about. Denver's defense is playing very well. They had the great Adrian Peterson shut down all day, until he finally broke loose for that long TD on a 4th-and-1. DeMarcus Ware and Von Miller are having stellar seasons, and the entire defense is awesome.
That said, the Vikings fought hard to stay in that ball game-- and Peyton's two INTs kept Minnesota in the game. Minnesota's rookie QB, Bridgewater, also played an awesome game under severe pressure. Quite an athlete!

It was in the 70s last night, and I don't think Peyton threw the ball 20 yards downfield in back to back plays. Imagine when the temps drop in November/December. A 'Peyton manning' offense had a much different feel and look in the past, as opposed to even the game tying drive last night. Like I said, his savvy and timing are still there. But safeties are going to crowd passing zones more and more vs Denver. And that has nothing to do w/ Kubiak. It has everything to do w Peyton'snphysical limitations. I'd wager the Broncos miss the playoffs this year, based on what I saw last night. I don't take any joy in saying that. I like manning. Always have. Huh?
Like I said, Mark, Peyton looked strong in camp this year. Yes, the guy is 39 years old, but I have a hunch that his wobbly appearance at Arrowhead last night was mainly a result of taking multiple hard hits on Sunday against Baltimore. Also, it was a short week for recovery-- with only 3 days between NFL games.
As for the Broncos "not making the playoffs" this year-- don't bet on that one. They're still one of the three best teams in the NFL-- along with New England and Seattle. Barring major injuries, they should be playing in the AFC title game in January-- possibly in Denver.
Do you have any idea how awesome this 2015 Denver Bronco's defense is? DeMarcus Ware, Von Miller, Aqib Talib, (leads NFL in INTs in the last few years) Chris Harris, Jr., (#1 rated CB in the NFL last year) Bradley Roby, T.J. Ward, and rookie 1st round phenom Shane Ray. The Broncos will most likely lead the NFL in sacks in 2015-- and, possibly, in defensive points scored and takeaways. They beat the crap out of big Joe Flacco and Alex Smith in the last few days, and had two pick sixes.
If you take away the 4 consecutive 15-yard personal foul calls against Denver's defense on K.C.'s 2 TD drives last night, the Bronco's D yielded a grand total of 3 points in the game. Baltimore scored 6 points against Denver's defense in Week One-- and Baltimore finished the 2014 season with a narrow loss to the Super Bowl champion Patriots.
If the Broncos have a serious weakness in 2015, it is their young O-line.
Yo, Mark, it's January. Denver is the #1 seed in the AFC playoffs, and the K.C. Chiefs just clobbered Houston 30-0 in the Wild Card game.
Denver CBs Aqib Talib and Chris Harris were both selected for the Pro Bowl.
Denver's defense is #1 in the NFL in yards allowed and sacks.
Their O-line still sucks...
The End

They gave the Broncos the only bona fide ass-kicking they've had all year in that last game in Denver. (The game where Peyton was benched after throwing some ducks off of his bad foot.)

Mark,
Peyton Manning was throwing the ball well in camp and in the 2015 preseason. I suspect that he was injured in the Baltimore game on Sunday-- in which he was beaten up quite severely (4 sacks and multiple knock downs.) Hence, the wobbly passes last night-- especially in the first 3 quarters of the game. He was, typically, mum all week about the injuries, other than saying that his back was hurting.
The other problem-- which I described in a recent thread here-- is that Gary Kubiak was not running a Peyton Manning style offense this year, until the Broncos got down 14-0 in Arrowhead, and couldn't run the ball. From the mid-2nd quarter on, Kubiak finally scrapped his plans to run the ball on 1st and 2nd downs, and let Peyton play his game. Hopefully, we'll see a Peyton Manning style offense going forward.
Denver was trailing 17-24 with 36 seconds left in regulation. Manning hit Emmanuel Sanders on a 20 yard post pattern to tie the game 24-24, and Brandon Marshall (MLB) stripped the ball from Jamaal Charles on the ensuing 1st down, and Bradley Roby ran it in for the go-ahead TD.
Denver scored 14 points in 9 seconds to win it 31-24.
The Broncos have an awesome defense this year-- with DeMarcus Ware, Von Miller, Shane Ray, and stellar CBs Aqib Talib and Chris Harris, Jr. Wade Phillips said recently that Talib and Harris are the two best CBs he's ever coached in his lengthy NFL career.
The Broncos have given up only two TDs in 2015-- both in series (last night) where they were flagged multiple times for personal fouls. Talib has two INTs in the first two games of 2015.
The Chiefs are a very good team in 2015-- especially on defense. I will be truly surprised if K.C. doesn't make the playoffs this season.
Aqib Talib

Now, Mark, you have to admit that I called this one back in September, eh, including my September prediction that KC would make the playoffs?
KC, ultimately, came within a whisker of playing Denver in the AFC Championship game.
I will give you credit for discerning the demise of Peyton Manning-- but Denver's defense turned out to be even greater than I mentioned in September.
Did you, actually, wager last fall that the Broncos wouldn't make the 2015-16 playoffs?
