I just got home from grocery shopping with Sharon, and saw on the runner at the bottom of the CBS screen...Peyton Manning broke the record for passing yards...71,838 yards (the old record as the Chiefs at Broncos game is still early) divided by 1780 (yards to the mile) equals 40.817 (+) miles...unreal...

An incredible career accomplishment for Peyton. The bad thing is he did it in a game where, at least so far, he has played awful. He's thrown 3 picks and is 4-15 for 30 yards at halftime.

Kind of like his crappy games against / AT Indy...when he gets his emotions worked up (on?) he seems to play crappy.

I said this from the first week of the season. His smarts are still there but his abilities are way down. Age, injuries, surgeries. It's a race every athlete, every qb, loses eventually.

Peyton Manning was benched by Gary Kubiak today after throwing FOUR interceptions.
As for Peyton's performances this year-- they have varied. He has had some good games (e.g., Green Bay) and a few stinkers.
He looked horrible today against K.C. Not sure what's going on. He may have been injured a bit at Indy last week.
The Chiefs were blitzing effectively against Denver's refurbished O-line.
Emmanuel Sanders got hurt, and Peyton was trying to throw to a few second and third stringers-- Cody Latimer, Bennie Fowler, and recent S.F. acquisition Vernon Davis. Things looked out of sync.
But he also threw a couple of real ducks. (No offense to Vik.)

There have been quite a few times when a manning led team has put up 3 tds in 15-20 minutes. The game wasn't out of reach from a scoreboard perspective. But kubiak did throw in the towel when he took Peyton out.

But kubiak did throw in the towel when he took Peyton out. espn is reporting that manning's plantar fasciitis injury in his right foot worsened, which was why he was pulled. the cbs tv station in denver has reported that he was dealing with it last wednesday... if true that would explain a lot about him losing zip on his passes downfield and to the sidelines, since pushing off that right foot would be a lot more difficult.

Mark,
The Denver Post ran a story today about Peyton Manning being injured in the Indianapolis game, and I know that he took some shots from Mathis. Peyton would only say that he wasn't going to make any excuses for his poor performance yesterday. Apparently, he has some sore ribs and the plantar fasciitis problem.
After the BYE week, Manning looked fairly sharp against Green Bay three weeks ago. The Packers came into Denver with the #1 NFL defense for points allowed, but Manning threw for 340 yards against the Pack.
He looked terrible yesterday, but I'm still not convinced that his career is over. We'll see.
If the Broncos keep playing like they did yesterday, they're going nowhere. The absence of Talib, DeMarcus Ware, and the old Peyton Manning was keenly felt.

I can't stand Payton Manning. Never could. Everyone crowing about his glorious achievement and nothing about Bret Favre's 40 miles of passing...

Everyone knows Favre was one of the greats, but it's not every day that a guy breaks the record for the most passing yards and games won in NFL history.
Get a clue.

I don't see it. Never have. Do you have some historical examples of Peyton's arrogance and prick-like characteristics?

He's a talent and one of the best. He paid the price in prep to get it done and he's paid the price physically doing it. I would think he'll hang em up after this yr.
