I'll take your word for it...I'm not going to 'like' something so I can read it...sounds suspiciously like a Nancy PaLOUSY line...

I've seen some Over 30 leagues and an Over 40 league. Never seen one that old though. I had a friend several years ago who was drafted by the Red Sox as a pitcher out of high school who was unable to sign as his father died that year and he had to work to support the family. Move forward several years and I watched him throw one Sunday afternoon in either an Over 30 or Over 40 league and he was still bringing a fastball in excess of 90 mph.

From my limited experience "seeing" 90 mph fastball, I concur. Back in high school, we used to go to batting cages and the competition was: we'd all take our 10 swings for a quarter and the one who foul-tipped the ball the most times as it went by got the next round free paid for by the others. If by some miracle you actually hit it forward somewhere, you automatically won the round unless someone else also hit it somewhere.

I don't think anyone threw that fast when I was in high school. First time I saw 90 plus was at a high school showcase at the spring training home in Winter Haven. Stood behind the backstop and watched while a dozen scouts had the radar guns on a kid from Tampa throwing 92 plus. I saw enough to know I wouldn't want to be in the box against it.
