Thanks to Walt for picking up the torch. I'm glad we won't have to be reading about Boomer Sooner.

Thanks to Walt for picking up the torch. I'm glad we won't have to be reading about Boomer Sooner. Coming in the second half of the Bowl Pick-em Classic quotes from John McKay. Here's a tease. Following the 51–0 loss to Notre Dame in 1966, "I told my team it doesn't matter. There are 750 million people in China who don't even know this game was played. The next day, a guy called me from China and asked, 'What happened, Coach?'"

Thanks to Walt for picking up the torch. I'm glad we won't have to be reading about Boomer Sooner. And miss these bits of wisdom? It was like a heart transplant. We tried to implant college in him but his head rejected it. Barry S People don't know what it means to be champions. Oklahoma invented it. BS The key to his success? He's just faster than the guys chasing him. BS Some people are born on third base and go through life thinking they hit a triple. BS

Thanks for all you have done. Walt took over for the bowls. If Walt or nobody else wants to take the responsibility for next season, I'll pick it up and do the best I can. As you know, I haven't participated in the movie quotes so there wouldn't be that. Again, thanks for all you have done. I know you've been busy and it hasn't been easy. I started working on a spreadsheet that would automatically total picks and results, so I think by the start of next season, I'll have that in place. What I WOULD like to see going forward, is some structured organized review of the teams. Both Trn and mscott were the largest contributors in that regard in the past. I've been thinking that I'd like to expand that a little so that pickers have some backbone from which to evaluate some of the teams. For instance, I was thinking about this simple stat line behind each team . THE Northeast Podunk State LLLWWWW (4-3) Southwest Squidunk College LWWWLWL (4-3) Identical records, but one team has won 4 straight after a rocky start, while the other team has lost 2 or their last 3. That is rather ambitious whilst trying to get stuff organized and recorded, so if such types of things could be decentralized, so much the better. This one's just a simple SS but it'd work Players / Week 1 / Week 2 ...../Week 3/................ / auto Totals / net WL/Bonus Pts/ Week net / Player 1 / +6 / +6 / +12 / +12 Player 2 / -4 / 0 / -4 / -4 Hide all but the most recent column and the yrly total. it's a simple copy and paste to post after you rank highest top. Now if you're gonna list and auto total each pick, a bit more complicated. And work<shrug>

Now if you're gonna list and auto total each pick, a bit more complicated. And work<shrug> So far, what I came up with is this crude compiler. Set up games. I input an X in cell xn at Daleko's column for the game and team you select, then in an adjoining column, simply ask Excel, "If xn=x, 1, otherwise 0, and then total the adjacent column. The problem is, the x needs to be triggered by being called a winning X. What I'm planning is a main result box to record the winning team, and then a nested test, If (winning) Team A's cell contains "x", AND Daleko's pick cell contains "X" as well, then 1, otherwise 0. Then total the column. Then set up a compilation of the 16 rows of each week's totals, sort high to low, and you get a running Results total. Then C&P that.
