I'm starting a thread to tally up the things the Trump administration does that are disparaging of Russia, and those things that are complementary. I'm going to give Trump a Mulligan on saying that being friendly with Putin is an asset.
Today: The phone call.
Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn, who will be Mr. Trump’s national security adviser, spoke with Sergei I. Kislyak, the Russian ambassador to the United States, the day before President Obama imposed sanctions on Russia for election hacking, to arrange a phone call between President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia and Mr. Trump once he becomes president, a Trump spokesman said Friday.
“The call centered around the logistics of setting up a call with the president of Russia and the president-elect after he was sworn in, and they exchanged logistical information,” Sean Spicer, Mr. Trump’s spokesman, told reporters on a conference call on Friday. “That was it, plain and simple.”
Several news organizations reported on Thursday on the calls between the two men.
Mr. Spicer said General Flynn had initially reached out to Mr. Kislyak via text message on Christmas Day to wish him a happy holiday and to say that he looked forward to working with him in the coming administration. The ambassador sent a text back returning the sentiment, he added. The Russian envoy followed up on Dec. 28 with another text that asked if he could call General Flynn, and the two spoke, Mr. Spicer said.
Now, of all the leaders in the world that Flynn could have called on Christmas Day to say how much he looked forward to "working with" them, Flynn calls the Russian ambassador. Not the English ambassador, or the German or French or Korean or Japanese or Australian ambassadors, not the Canadian or Mexican or Brazilian ambassador....the freakin' Russian ambassador... Think about that. He's going to be the freakin' National Security Advisor to the POTUS. What's he going to be "working" on with the Russian ambassador? Why isn't he looking forward to "working" with, say, the British? You know....one of our allies.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1972_Nixon_visit_to_Chinaa short 20 years before that, MacArthur was trying to push those rice eaters all the way back to the great wall. Walt would rather we have enemies with great power and resources, than have them as trading partners.

Here's one for you Walt President-elect Trump has also stated the he will keep the sanctions in place against Russia. FACT ....with the caveat, "...at least for a period of time...". Hardly a rousing attack on the Russian conduct that created the sanctions. "...a period of time..." could be a day, or a week. Lifting sanctions hasn't made the complimentary list yet. But it certainly has been teed up for review.

Oh wait, he did do that.

We can send Hitlery and Obama to Moscow demanding the truth about "Russian interference." They will serve as Putin bait. Then ............. BOOM.

Y'know, I don't think Fred has any Rooskie ammo. I'm sure he would if he had an AK. He almost bought a Mini-30 at one time but didn't want to stockpile yet another caliber so he bailed on that notion.

I wish to talk about Russian made ammo now. got some, not much. just finished buying the last of the inventory of 20ga BRI I've used Tula steel case in both an AK and a Mini-14. No problems except it is dirty since the steel doesn't fireform to the chamber shape and seal it like brass will. I wouldn't use steel cased ammo in an AR because they don't handle dirt as well as a Garand or Garand-based action does. I have some Monarch steel-cased stuff too, but I haven't tried it yet.
The only real downside about steel cases to me, is that they can't be reloaded. I'm not sure if it's worth reloading .223's though, since factory ammo isn't all that expensive. I'll put it this way ---- I haven't bothered to buy any dies or components for reloading .223/5.56 yet.

I take that back. Fred had a couple of boxes of Tula (brass) 9mm he lost in one of his great ammo dumps at the lake.
Regarding reloading .223/5.56 yeah it's worth it when the very cheapest you can buy quality US made ammo is around 33 cents per round. Fred had a ton of Lake City (Lake... how fitting since that's where it all is now) M193 that he got for 26 cents per round but you'll never see that deal again.
