Obama should give Trump some space out of respect for the office, a "wait and see" if you will, but there would be nothing "indecent" about stepping up and condemning some egregious decision by the new POTUS and to say something publicly if he chose to do so. Obama is just another citizen now. He can say and do whatever he wants. Ex-Presidents normally keep quiet on policy stuff and foreign policy matters. And that's for good reason. I can see Obama making some comments on healthcare, but other than that, my guess is he bites his tongue. He was very specific about what he would or would not speak up about yesterday at his press conference.

- obama represented this country with an awesome amount of dignity and grace. he wasn't perfect and had many flaws. but i hope people who didn't vote for him recognize that he was a true pure blooded american. you may disagree with his policies and some of his actions, but his objective was to make the country better. - when was the last time obama had to walk around with keys and a wallet and a phone in his pocket? must be nice to walk around all the time with nothing in your pocket. i'd imagine that's the biggest transition to civilian life. - i read that harry truman drove with him and his wife back to missouri after his presidency with no secret service detail. must have been interesting for other motorists to see him filling up his gas tank. "so hey there, so those um bombs were pretty big huh?" - i didn't like 99.99% of the things president bush did. but i still wished him no ill. - the peaceful transition of power is truly one of the most awesome parts of our government. - right now, i honestly wouldn't trust trump to watch my dog for an hour, let alone be president of the united states. but i am hoping he succeeds. and i am wishing him the best. the opposition to him will be fierce and passionate. lets see how he handles it. - i have a feeling that obama is going to be a much different ex president than bush. i feel like he's not leaving the public spotlight anytime soon. I thought Hillary looked healthier today. Not important to most; just a passing thought.

Watching the parade and focused the limo and security, I had to look up what was available on the vehicle. Pretty impressive and expensive. 20,000 lbs being powered, maybe by a 400 ci turbo diesel. $1.5 MM Tons of security on the ground for all to see. Every so often you'd get a quick shot of the snipers on the roofs. Interesting stuff for me. SS guys wearing body armor under their white shirts made look chubby. Or they need to back off the donuts.

Supposedly you can't open the doors from the inside. Too heavy. Google it. It's an impressive vehicle. And the weapon of choice on the inside? A Remington 870 pump shotgun. 6-8" is right on.

A former president should refrain from speaking out on the current president in nearly any circumstance. GHWB and GWB both handled retirement very well. Jimmy Carter did as well for many years. Nixon, Ford, and Bill Clinton also were excellent former presidents in that they stayed out of politics unless asked for assistance. GWB did ask Clinton to perform some humanitarian tasks for America and he and GWB actually became friends. These are the examples Obama should follow, but I don't think he will have the decency to do it. what gives you that idea? why would obama be different than the others?

There's your best answer.

what gives you that idea? why would obama be different than the others? Ummm, can't speak for him, but he did leave this clue in his post....... .......... but I don't think he will have the decency to do it.......... Speaking for me, speaking to what he thinks, that was shown early on in his first term when he decided to get involved in a local police matter, and called the police out on the national stage when he said......"The police acted stupidly" leading to the "beer summit".........that wasn't very "decent" of him.

I think gwb set a pretty good example and obama will follow that lead

I think gwb set a pretty good example and obama will follow that lead he may or may not, but that wasn't an isolated incidence. He stuck his nose in a local problem in Sanford Florida. The infamous "if I had a son" speech. Two incidences that had a common thread. He led America by its nose places it certainly didn't want to be. Used the justice department to have a public opinion trial. Followed then by the incidence in Missouri, and again the justice dept. That was his MO while a "community organizer" he didn't change while in office. Where was his outrage over the shooting death of Brandyn Allen? No Federal probe here in Columbus, imagine that. Why don't we know the names of all the people who have been shot in Chicago? I just don't see him going quietly into the night. His narcissism won't allow it.
