The Berkeley bastards (and bitches) have the 1st Amendment right to protest any speaker on their campus. However, when that protest turned to violence, the Berkeley campus police and the city police had the DUTY to stop them and arrest any that committed a criminal act. Your anger should be directed at those police and their supervisors who, by word or deed, lead the police to ignore their duty. Police and soldiers are usually only as good or as bad as their leaders.

All they ever tear up is their own shit anyway, which is REALLY stupid! The REAL problem is that when a conservative is silenced, it is "good." If conservatives were to ever shut down a liberal rally (which they do NOT do), it would be considered "hate."

I have no problem with them being a watch dog for 1st A rights. It's healthy for all of us. It is indeed. A healthy democracy needs free expression of ideas, no matter how obscenely offensive or spectacularly stupid. Unfortunately, most of the conversation these days dwell in those realms, as this board demonstrates quite well. But like a landfill, sometimes something good can be found among the trash, muck and mire.
