irving got his wish last night... getting traded to the celtics straight up for guard isaiah thomas, forward jae crowder, center ante zizic and a 1st round pick in the '18 draft (via brooklyn). when he came to cleveland in the fall of '11, kyrie was the best player on a very bad team. when james returned to cavs, irving became the 2nd best player on a team that went to 3 straight finals and won a title. he asked to leave and owner dan snyder accommodated him, to a playoff caliber team. we'll see if he can take boston to the next level. cavs got good talent plus a top draft pick in return, tho thomas will be a free agent after next year. crowder is a nice bonus. btw, the cavs open the '17-'18 season... vs the celtics in cleveland.

If you are Cavs GM, why aren't you shopping LBJ? 1. do the cavs still have a gm? ha 2. would word of shopping him, and the effect that could have on season tix, be worth it? and what deal could you possibly get in return? who has the kind of talent/draft pix on the teams where james might want to play... which in my mind is only nyc or la, period? |
