Let's hope this scenario never happens, for any reason. Here it is:
You are limited to ONE firearm for the rest of your life ........... rifle, shotgun, handgun (price is no object if that matters), your choice. Not one of each, just one. Any caliber/gauge ............ completely your choice.
What do you choose?

There's a moose in Denver that needs to be shot but it's garbage. No utility at all.

What do you choose? .22 mag semi-auto pistol. Maybe even a .22 semi-auto pistol. Silenced capable. Ear hole anything large, to feed on, incl bovines. In LA deadly on gators. Kills any small game incl game birds. As a SD firearm, in the hands of a competent, effective. As a tool for sanctions, voted #1 by operators world-wide.

Where did you find that operators' poll? That sounds like an interesting read.

Maybe so, but silenced semiautos are overrated. They aren't "silent," you have to use subsonic ammo to be really quiet, and you can't dampen the sound of the gun's slide cycling or the empty case hitting a solid surface like concrete or metal.
Silencing a revolver is impossible, obviously.

My choice should be obvious.
Colt Series 70 or earlier 1911A-1 or exact copy (in my case the High Standard 1911A-1 I have) in .45 ACP. Alhough it's 3/4 inch shorter, my Combat Commander meets the criteria, since it is only a shortened 1911A-1. Replacements for broken parts are plentiful, and no tools are needed to change them out, except for the ejector. It's easy to use, sufficiently accurate, and has a long history of reliability. It can be taken anywhere where guns are allowed with no alarm if carried concealed. .45 ACP ammo is very plentiful, even if you can't find your favorite projectile. There's nothing wrong with the standard 230 gr, FMJ. It will kill anything from rabbits to Rabbis [OK, bad joke there]. There are no moose, and I have never encountered a bear in Louisiana. They are out there, but I don't see them shopping at Sears.
Unfortunately my scenario allows me only 1 gun, so it IS possible FRed could end up with my High Standard, but then that would become HIS only gun, and I have a feeling he is going to choose an AR. The Colt Combat Commander is my keeper gun.

The Nagant is a rarity in the revolver world, and I doubt its weird ass ammo is readily available. No, I've never shot one or even seen one in the wild. Yeah I know "silenced" is relative. It just pisses me off how Hollyweird makes it so unreal and yet uninformed people (read: liberals) believe that shit.

Ammo is expensive but you can make your own using .32-20 cases, I believe. A really good example of the Nagant suppressed is in the Langley Museum.

I don't really want a .30 caliber revolver, either. .38/.357 is just fine.
