After reading the "Ammo?" thread, I actually decided to take a somewhat accurate count of my LOADED ammo inventory.
Numbers are approx. since not every box is full.  Mixture of factory and reloaded rounds.

.223 ---          1100
.303 British --  500
.22LR ---       4000 (conservative estimate)
.38 Spcl ---     400
9MM ---          750
.45ACP ---      700
.45 Colt ---      700

Now why in hell do I have 750 9MM's when I really don't like the round, and I only own a P-38?   Good question.  I guess I just stockpiled them without realizing it. 
I know I have at least 200 .45 Colt empties that need to be reloaded, and at least 500 in .45 Colt.

Yes, I guess Red Stick Doobie's Ammo Supply IS open.

That's a nice offer, but I LOVE my P-38.   I can't help it that the Germans chose 9mm to chamber it in. 
Now if you can find one of the extremely rare .45ACP versions, buy it and bring it in trade, THEN we have a deal.

You don't have very much ammo, Mutt.

I'm not going to war.   And in a SHTF scenario, I'm going to have to leave most of it behind.  So why should I stockpile THOUSANDS of rounds that someone else is going to end up with and maybe use AGAINST me?

          I could have lied and said I have 10,000 rounds of each. that I have all kinds of expensive guns to out do the ones everyone else talks about, and I am a master gunbuilder, even though I have never shown my workshop or a picture of myself holding a SINGLE gun.

I prefer the less impressive TRUTH.

Wow!!!  Isn't that a beautiful pistol??  Thanks for a great article that I PROBABLY read when it first appeared but have forgotten about.

Now to brass tacks.  Did you see the price in 1980 dollars?  That's probably why I would never consider converting mine.
