Mixed in shotgun empties. Have a bag of hulls with just primers to demonstrate how powerful a 209 primer is to the H/S classes. Which BTW, our KidsAfield class is coming up this weekend. Will be my 31st year involved in this program, but have been teaching since '73.

Props to you.Had some empty .357 shells that allowed one to put in shotgun primers and shoot wax bullets in the basement. Had a Colt Trooper MK III that the boys learned to shoot revolvers with. Because of the escalating prices on Colt "snake" guns, prices on the Troopers have also gone up, up. Guy offered me stupid money for it and it's now gone. Then again I thought buying a Cobra for $1,100 was stupid 6-7 yrs ago.

The demo with the primed cases we do, is done with one fired in a 50cal in-line. (sounds like a 22 short going off) then in a 20ga hull out of a 26" bbl. sounds like a .22mag going off.

Mixed in shotgun empties. I guess if you wanted to stretch it, you could call a spent primer a "primer hull." although technically a primer is comprised of the cup, anvil, and primer compound. That's a Boxer (American) primer. In cartridges that use Berdan (European) primers the anvil is part of the cartridge case itself.

I think it would be a pain in the ass to blindly line up a double punch setup to punch them out. Hardly worth the bother.

Hardly worth the bother. people have drilled them out and used regular primers..........PITA I wouldn't trust that. You now have THREE flash holes, and I don't think Boxer primers were designed for that. It's their choice, though. Darwinism doesn't exempt gun owners. Kinda like the geniuses who think if a regular primer is good, that a magnum primer will be just a little bit better.

I don't buy Berdan primed ammo. I would guess that 99% of Americans don't either, other than in steel-cased ammo from Europe, which no one is going to reload anyway. I would also guess that the average non-reloading shooter wouldn't know the difference anyway. Just a guess, mind you.

There's been a couple of great deals on bulk mil-surplus ammo that I darn near bought some of but those darn Berdan primers... You know how partial I am to Babs Boxer...

Makes no difference if you aren't a handloader. No duh. I'm saving my brass for later. If you are thinking of .223/5.56, forget it. The tiny cases get plugged up with tumbling media easily and it is a major bitch to dig it out. Trust me on this. After I cleaned a batch, I forgot all about ordering dies, primers and warheads. Unless you can afford an automated progressive press, the reloading time to do a decent amount to fire through a semi-auto is way too long. Larger calibers, yes .......... but .223's are so cheap for now, it's just not worth the effort and expense.
And you know I have all the time in the world!
