(9-3) NORTH TEXAS VS (10-2) TROY - 7
troy went 8-2 su vs the mean green before ntex left the sun belt for cusa. troy won its last 6, including its finale vs arkansas st despite being outgained 606-293 (trojans had 2 kick return tds). 2 yrs ago ntu went 1-11. this yr they made the cusa title game, losing for a 2nd time to fla atlantic, who put up 1400+ yds in 2 wins vs them in '17. i read where cusa bowl teams are 13-2 ats off a 10+ loss. factor that w/troy winning its last game while getting dominated... north texas. loss
(7-5) OREGON VS (9-3) BOISE STATE +7
once again the broncos have a pretty good year, and once again find themselves an underdog vs a 'name' opponent. these 2 teams had virtually the same schedule strength, uo loses its coach after just 1 season, the ducks are just 3-7 ats vs mwc foes as -5/more, bsu is 6-2 ats as bowl dogs vs power 5 teams, and bowl teams off a su win/ats loss in their ccg are 16-7-2 ats. boise state. win
(7-5) MARSHALL VS (7-5) COLORADO STATE -5.5
my dad's alma mater vs the current school of one of my nephews. no bearing on my pick... just thought i'd mention it. csu is just 1-3 su/0-4 ats in their last 4 bowl games, while the thundering herd is 10-1 su/ats in their last 11 trips and have won 5 straight. marshall's o is so-so, but their d is pretty good. rams are much better on offense but much worse on d. bowl faves off 4 consecutive ats losses (csu finished the season 0-6 ats) are 6-13 ats lately, while cusa bowl teams have performed better than those from any other league since 2011 (22-11 su, 20-12-1 ats). marshall. win

both teams finished the year playing well, especially on offense, behind veteran qb's. but mtsu is just 2-8-1 ats the last 2 years vs teams who made the post season. asu outgained their last 6 opponents. arkansas state. loss
(7-6) AKRON VS (10-3) FLORIDA ATLANTIC -22.5
so fau dominates the cusa in lane kiffin's 1st yr, wins the title, and their reward is a 'bowl' game on their home field vs an akron team who made the mac ccg w/mirrors? everything points to a blowout.... except... this line began at -17 and the $$ has been all on the owls. this is the biggest spread in a bowl since 1980. bowl chalk of 16+ are just 5-11 ats lately. the zips' offense is awful, but fau's d isn't that much better (their offense is outstanding). i'll roll the dice on a backdoor cover. akron. loss
(6-6) LOUISIANA TECH VS (7-5) SOUTHERN METHODIST -5
la tech was mediocre vs a weak schedule, while smu is playing in frisco, just a few miles north of their dallas campus. but they have a new head coach, and the bulldogs under skip holtz are 21-3-1 ats as dogs off an ats win louisiana tech. win
(6-6) TEMPLE -7 VS (8-4)FLORIDA INT’L +7
temple was pretty inexperienced entering the season, and did improve over the course of the year. but teams w/1st year coaches aren't good as bowl favorites, especially vs teams off a su underdog win (4-15 ats). fiu's offense is too good to give a td. florida international. loss
(8-4) UAB VS (8-4) OHIO -7.5
incredible story for uab to make a bowl after not even having football the past 2 yrs. but the blazers struggled down the stretch, averaging just 260 yds on offense the last 3 games. but they also went 6-1 ats this year as underdogs while the bobcats went 1-3 ats as chalk away from home. uab. loss
(8-4) CENTRAL MICHIGAN VS (7-5) WYOMING – PICK
cmu finished the season winning 6 of 7. the cowboys struggled w/josh allen fighting injuries, and i find it hard to believe he'll risk playing in this one w/the draft upcoming. central michigan. loss. obviously allen is healed
