right now it's 3-3 texas tech vs usf halfway thru the 1st qtr so i hope it's ok if i still get this pick in...
BIRMINGHAM BOWL - BIRMINGHAM
(6-6) TEXAS TECH VS (9-2) SOUTH FLORIDA -3
texqs tech. i think usf is disappointed they're not playing on 1/1/18. plus tech is a really solid 9-3 su in their last 12 bowl games
ARMED FORCES BOWL – FT. WORTH
(9-3) ARMY VS (10-2) SAN DIEGO STATE -6.5
army. even though the cadets' true bowl game was a couple weeks ago beating navy, army is 5-1 su in bowls after knocking off the middies. plus military bowlers are 22-4 ats vs .600+ foes.
DOLLAR GENERAL BOWL – MOBILE
(8-4) APPALACHIAN STATE VS (11-2) TOLEDO -7
toledo. tough call here because i think asu has a shot here. but last year the mountaineers knocked off the rockets 31-28 in the camelia bowl (rockets missing a last second fg) and ut is 12-5-1 ats w/revenge vs teams off a win.
HAWAII BOWL - HONOLULU
(7-4) HOUSTON VS (9-4) FRESNO STATE +2.5
fresno state. bulldogs are 6-0 ats as dogs under coach tedford. plus hawaii bowl favorites are just 2-8 ats since '07.
HEART OF DALLAS BOWL- DALLAS
(6-6) UTAH VS (7-5) WEST VIRGINIA +6.5
utah. did you know kyle whittingham is 10-1 su/8-3 ats in bowls as a head coach? wvu is 6-20 ats in bowls since '82, and qb grier is doubtful w/a broken finger. neither d is good, though. lots of points.
QUICK LANE BOWL - DETROIT
(8-4) NORTHERN ILLINOIS VS (6-6) DUKE -5.5
northern illinois. duke started 4-0, lost 6 straight, then pulled off 2 underdog wins. bowl chalk off 2 dog wins are just 3-7 ats lately. counting ohio u's win yesterday, mac schools are now 10-5-1 ats in their last 16 bowls.
CACTUS BOWL – PHOENIX
(7-5) KANSAS STATE VS (6-6) UCLA -16.5
walt, this line is not correct. ksu is actually -2.5. at 16+ i take the wildcats w/o question.
INDEPENDENCE BOWL - SHREVEPORT
(8-4) SO MISS VS (6-6) FLORIDA STATE -16.5
southern miss. tough karma year for the noles since losing their qb in the opener. fsu is 0-7 ats vs .500+ foes in '17.
PINSTRIPE BOWL – NEW YORK CITY
(7-5) BOSTON COLLEGE VS (7-5) IOWA -2.5
boston college. man can i say i got tired of hearing iowa said so often in early december? lol. hawks are 0-5 su their last 5 bowls, bc is on a 9-0-1 ats streak this year, and acc teams are 9-2 su/10-0-1 ats vs big 10 as bowl dogs.
TEXAS BOWL - HOUSTON
(7-5) MISSOURI VS (6-6) TEXAS +2.5
texas. mizzou offense was on fire ending the season, but tom herman is 9-1 ats as an underdog, and the horns have enough o to exploit a weak tiger defense.
FOSTER FARMS BOWL – SANTA CLARA
(6-6) PURDUE VS (7-5) ARIZONA -3
purdue. '13-'16, the boilers went 3-30 su in the big 10. this year jeff brohm has them bowling. khalil tate was unreal taking over as qb for ua, but their defense is real leaky. and the big 10 is 10-4-1 ats vs pac 12 since 2010

Week 2 = 3-4 (4 to play today)
That's an unremarkable 8-8 through the first 16 bowl games. I wouldn't have picked West Virginia had I realized Will Grier was out. Other than that, it's better than being below the Mendoza Line.
