I would guess the guy who prefabbed the span and the outfit who transported it kept triple check records and samples. That's the problem w single spans that stretch the window, one small weak link can crumple the mutually supported whole. Kind of like the honeycomb TTs.

Stress testing while traffic goes down the road under the bridge? That's like looking down the barrel of a gun to see it it will fire when the trigger is pulled. As it develops, I am curious to understand what happened. The configuration of the thing required a lot of things to go perfectly. If they are messing with what sounds like post-tension stress tests while traffic is passing below it, somebody could end up in jail. That's just crazy negligent. |
