Opponents of gun control often refer to their Second Amendment rights to own guns. It's in the (Bill of Rights of) the Constitution.
But this line of reasoning illustrates a more general problem with rights-based, "libertarian" political ideology.
What happens in a society when one "right" undermines the rights of others? Which conflicting "right" should take precedence?
For example, do American citizens have a "right" to live in safety-- e.g., to congregate in schools, churches, malls, concert venues, and other public places without an unreasonable risk of being unexpectedly shot and killed by homicidal maniacs with an easily-obtained assault rifles?
Does one man's right to burn coal trump another's right to breathe clean air?
Even libertarian philosophers like the late, great Robert Nozick have understood that there are reasonable grounds for restricting liberty.
The current POTUS doesn't seem to understand the philosophical (or scientific and economic) contradictions of his own misguided Robber Baron-ism.

Using the words, "...understand the philosophical or scientific and economic contradiction..." while referring to Donald Trump in the same sentence is pretty funny. I do not think even his supporters think he could do such a thing.

I do not think even his supporters think he could do such a thing. The examples are legion, of course.
For example, Trump seems to believe that he can "make America great again" by; 1) dramatically increasing the Federal deficit and debt, 2) increasing the already extreme mal-distribution of wealth, 3) increasing air and water pollution, 4) destroying affordable healthcare for working class families, and 5) causing increased flooding, drought, forest fires, tornadoes, hail, and hurricanes that result from accelerated climate change.

That sums it up... ...for idiots. "GREAT" is a pretty subjective word. "Better than the rest" does not automatically equate to great. Priorities seem to be rough for dims to manage...Necessary things that increase the budget are not horrible, especially when not being allowed to cut BS from that same budget. When you support that BS, that more or less becomes a summation of your opinion. You BS-lover you. Wealth that is earned is mal-distributed? Again, what percentage of what I earn do you feel entitled to? I have asked, as have others, but you tap dance away from ever coming up with a number. Unless, of course, that number is YOURS. You libs loving giving away things YOU don't own. Yawn LBJ destroyed affordable (& WORKING) healthcare...it just took a long time to come to fruition. YAWN...again... summed up nicely, from one idiot for another.

Unless, of course, that number is YOURS. see, it's true. the more things change, the more they stay the same. The democrats lived on slavery, started and fought a big bloody war to keep it. They use a little more 'tact' these days in wanting to profit off of free labor. They expect everybody to be their "negro"

Chief Horse Manure still doesn't seem to know that the "Democrats" of the post-Civil War/Jim Crow/KKK Confederacy are the base of the Trump/Koch GOP today.
Trumpism is predicated on white racism. Anyone with an IQ above 80 knows that much.
And, obviously, the Trump/Koch/Robber Baron GOP today is the anti-labor party of America's 21st century.
Finally, Shard-shite still doesn't seem to grasp the basic economic fact--from the landmark research of Thomas Piketty, and others-- that capital "earns" a higher percentage of modern era U.S. income than actual work.
Shard-shite needs to study the data on the Great Divergence in U.S. income and wealth since the Reagan "revolution" of the 1980s that has destroyed the American middle class.
Shard-shite probably thinks that Sam Walton's progeny have worked very hard to "earn" their multi-billion dollar annual incomes...
