It's not NEW new, since the last ones were made about 60 years ago, but new for me. The Enfield rifle converted to a single shot .22LR trainer. There's not a whole lot of them floating around loose, but they are still available. Interesting things. They have no ejector and the .303 magazine is only an empty shell. The extractor pulls the fired case out of the chamber and it drops into the empty magazine shell. As it fills, you just pull the mag out, dump it and start over.
We'll see .............. www.gunbroker.com/item/770295593www.gunbroker.com/item/769256913www.gunbroker.com/item/769462076The good thing about single shots is it takes longer to burn up ammo, and they make you focus on marksmanship.

Easy answer. Remington isn't Lee-Enfield.

Seriously doubt that, Bryan... I imagine it's tough to legally purchase a slingshot in california....

If I got caught shooting a bb gun within the city limits of my rural community I could go to jail. Must be good comrade or gulag for you!

If I got caught shooting a bb gun within the city limits of my rural community I could go to jail. Must be good comrade or gulag for you! That's the law in most cities, Fred. I can walk out to the edge of my property and fire off a few shots at paper plates and no problem, but only because we live in the county. We've lived here over twenty years and I may have done that a half dozen times, if that. No need to as we have a home made range less than 3 miles away. Plus we are members of a local gun range here. In the city however, you can only fire a gun if it's self defense.. That's a just law. Better to be safe than sorry.

When my parents still owned the ranch outside the city limits I would go out and shoot all the time. That was my practice range. Then my mom passed away and my dad sold the place about 10 years later. I had to shoot out at the only outdoor range we have in the area, about 45 minutes away. I finally got sick of vying for a spot and putting up with all the yahoos and droopy-drawered gang banger wannabes and joined a really nice club about an hour north in the next county where people are still normal.

I have no idea how those squirrels in my yard end up dead, but it's not from a BB or pellet gun. I think it's the Russians doing it.

my 40X is the most boring gun I've ever owned. You either have to miss the X on purpose, or find shitty ammunition to do it for you.

I don't collect guns because they can outshoot a laser. I collect them for their historical significance, their charisma, or as self-defense weapons. I don't need a Remington 40X since it doesn't fit my criteria. A bolt action rifle would be third on my list for self-defense, behind (1) a semiauto and (2) a lever action. I wouldn't use a single shot Lee-Enfield .22 for self-defense either, but it DOES have historical significance and it is cool (the charisma factor).
I don't hunt. I don't shoot competitively. I don't need a tack driver. Any normal rifle will be more accurate than I am capable of shooting with it.

Setting up a dozen or so water balloons at 150 yards and taking my Ruger 10\22 with a 3-9x40mm scope and popping them. fun fun fun
