Got my new gun rig in for my 1875 Remington the other day. It's a pretty accurate reproduction, not being the Hollywood-invented low slung "gunfighter" style. It actually could have been a bit HIGHER to be truly authentic, but for less than $100 for an all-leather outfit, I really can't complain.
Yes, that is LIVE ammunition in the bullet loops.

BTW, the place I got this from is in CA, run by a guy who grew up in Chicago. When I talked to him on the phone, it was obvious he was not a Californicator. He grew up in Chicago.
He agrees with you that CA gun laws are fuxzking ridiculous.
This is actually a much more accurate representation of the Old West rigs, but me being a poor boy, I didn't want to swing for it.

The High Rider holster was the rig of choice because it kept the gun in an easily accessible position while in the saddle. Those "low riders" you see gunslingers wearing would put the gun in a awkward position on horseback. Many riders had a pommel holster to keep their gun handy when riding. I have one like this:www.oldpueblosaddle.com/pommel-holsters

Or get thrown, and Trigger runs off into the sunset without me.
And as I said ......... look at pictures of the real Earps and Doc Holliday. No "Hollywood gunslinger" rigs there.
Or Buffalo Bill:
Or Wild Bill Hickock:

Is that Val Kilmer on the left? Just how blind ARE you?
That was a good movie although still not historically accurate, and Kurt Russell is very pro gun. I wasn't a fan of his until I found that out.
Sam Elliot always makes a good cowboy or biker, too.

Can you put that in English? Kirk Rustle, hello? No, but going by individual photos, that is the real Wyatt Earp 2nd on the left, with Doc to his right. He doesn't look anything like Hugh O'Brien.
So ................. why are you being a dick and hijacking the thread?

The tall guy would be Morgan. He had a thin face. Virgil had the chubby face of the one at far right.
Ancient photography was nowhere near as good as it is now, so they tend to look slightly different in different photos..
The famous picture of Billy the Kid is actually BACKWARDS. It portrays him as being left handed, and Hollyweird even perpetuated this mistake in the movie "The Left Handed Gun," starring Paul Newman as a left-handed Billy the Kid.
