FIVE BUCKEYES ADVANCE TO THE NCAA WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTERFINALS

Eight Buckeyes survived the Round of 32 at the NCAA Wrestling Championships in Pittsburgh. Five advanced to Friday's quarterfinals.

Myles Martin, Kollin Moore, Micah Jordan, Joey McKenna and Luke Pletcher won their Round of 16 matches handily Thursday night in PPG Paints Arena. The returning All-Americans have been the backbone of the Buckeye lineup all season long, and they continued to carry the torch for their team on the tournament's first day.

Four members of the quartet won via major decision, while Luke Pletcher advanced on a decision over the No. 12 seed at 133 pounds. None of the five were ever in danger of dropping their bouts, and McKenna and Jordan were within reach of a tech fall when time expired.

Chase Singletary, the redshirt freshman heavyweight, dropped a close decision to the No. 1 seed in his bracket, and Te'Shan Campbell came up a takedown short at 165 pounds. Only Ke-Shawn Hayes was truly out-horsed in Session 2 action, as he dropped a major decision to No. 6 Kaleb Young.

The Buckeyes were the only program to have all 10 wrestlers qualify and make the brackets.  Going into day 2 today, all 10 are still in contention for at least #3 in their brackets.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Five Buckeyes took the mat for the NCAA Quarterfinals on Friday and all five walked off as victors with a reservation booked for the Semifinals to be aired live on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET. In addition, Te’Shan Campbell continued his hometown run with two more wrestleback wins.

The Ohio State semifinalists include: Micah Jordan (149 lbs), Myles Martin (184 lbs), Joey McKenna (141 lbs), Kollin Moore (197 lbs) and Luke Pletcher (133 lbs).

BUCKEYES BITS | SESSION III EDITION

🌰 Pletcher avenged an early-season loss to Pittsburgh’s Micky Phillippi.

🌰 McKenna has bonus-ed his way to the semifinals with a tech fall and two major decisions.

🌰 Jordan came up a lone tally shy of also posting three bonus-point wins with a 10-3 decision.

🌰 Martin (23-0) is one of just 10 undefeated wrestlers remaining.

🌰 Martin pulled even with Logan Stieber (2012-15) and Mitch Clark (1993-98) at 119 career wins, good for 12th-best in OSU lore.

🌰 Moore racked up 17 points in a 17-11 quarterfinals shootout.

🌰 Campbell knocked off his second top-13 opponent of the week.
