Now the hard part begins. I go for my first PT this afternoon. Just my first venture after surgery (a trip to the bathroom) was an ordeal. This is a pain unlike any I have ever experienced. I would not wish this pain on anyone, not even a Democrat. (except you-know-who)

Was he encouraging about how the procedure went and confident about your recovery? Have your talked to anyone at the PT Lab? Gonna hurt, but but stretching that LITTLE extra bit is going to pay dividends in the long run...Good luck, man... |

So nine days after surgery and two PT sessions, today I was able to work my knee well enough to get my foot fully down on the floor. Still pain after my exercise and much limited movement but I am pleased with my progress and will see the PT Tuesday and the surgeon Wednesday. Hoping for a good report.

So nine days after surgery and two PT sessions, today I was able to work my knee well enough to get my foot fully down on the floor. Still pain after my exercise and much limited movement but I am pleased with my progress and will see the PT Tuesday and the surgeon Wednesday. Hoping for a good report. Pay attention too to what kinds of movements you can do yourself at home to help regain your mobility. Now that you're seeing progress, help yourself as much as possible...and don't forget the ice & heat. |

Sorry for trying to rush you....<g> It will probably be a couple months before they allow the heating pad...Sharon's routine now is Heat to loosen up the area, PT, cold to reduce any swelling & pain relief, and heat a couple hours later. She's probably around 90% recovered, and we're just over five months since surgery. |

The doctor and PT want my leg straight and flexible. Knee straight while standing is 0 degrees. Bent while sitting is 90 degrees. 2nd PT I was at 20 straight and 75 sitting down and bending. Session 3 was 16 straight and 81 bending. Thursday (session 4) I achieved 8 standing and 85 bending. My PT is very pleased with my progress. In a week we will start working on balance without my walker. Doctor will release me to drive in a month if all goes well. baby steps.

Day 6 of PT. Walked to the car with a cane and no walker. Did well today. Strenuous work but pain eased after ice and electrical stimulation at end of session. Walker has been retired.
