Heard a rumor that Ryan Newman was killed in that crash at the end. Thoughts and prayers to his family.

Edit...just heard he survived and his injuries are non-life threatening. Glad to be wrong.

There was a race I recall where Dale blocked for Dale jr to win his first at this particular track. Could have been Talladega.

Michael Waltrip won it....

Michael won it Jr was second pushing Michael to his first Daytona win while Sr was in 3rd and blocking. One of the best Daytona's ever until the news came after the race Sr died. Dale Sr only won the 500 once in 1998. He was edged out of a win by Gordon in 97, but he left his mark on Gordons car at the end after the checkered by giving Jeff a good ole tire rub on his door. Knowing full well his car had to sit in the Daytona experience all year with it.

Jr didn't get his first 500 win until 2004.

Jr. won the Firecracker 400 in July after Dale died. Jr. won with a crazy dash to the lead at the end that many thought looked like a setup by the other drivers.
