The cough and fatique are a side effect, but not the fever, so, I dunno...

Drink a 16oz glass of water at least every couple of hours. I became dehydrated almost immediately. Resulting in very dark, very little pee and nonstop unbearable headaches. Today's the first day I'm feeling anything like normal after 7 days of hell.

I can imagine this is going to freak out the oncology department. The cough and fatique are a side effect, but not the fever, so, I dunno... sorry to hear. your treatments are definitely a factor and you absolutely need to reach out to your doctor today. in general, applying to otherwise generally healthy folks, some advice from a respiratory therapist at my wife's hospital over the weekend; 1. high temps do more to knock out a virus. tylenol, advil, motrin, ibuprofin et al will bring your fever down and allow the virus to live longer. use common sense, don't let your fever get to 103+. if it does, take tylenol (not advil or ibuprofen, which will actually exacerbate the virus) to keep it regulated. helps to keep the house warm and cover up with blankets so your body doesn't have to work so hard to generate the heat. usually takes a couple days for the fever to break. 2. the body is going to dehydrate w/the elevate temps so you must rehydrate regularly, whether you like it or not. gatorade w/real sugar, pedialyte w/real sugar for kids work well. sugar will give your body back the energy its had to use up for the fever. electrolytes/fluid you're losing will be replenished. if you don't do this and end up in the hospital you'll be on an i.v. and be given d5w (sugar water) and saline to replenish electrolytes. gatorade is cheaper, pain free, and has lots of fun flavors. 3. you need to keep your lungs moist. best done by taking long steamy showers regularly. if you're wheezing or congested use a very minty toothpaste and brush your teeth while in the shower, taking deep breaths thru your mouth while doing so. this will provide some bronchial dilation plus help loosen phlegm. force yourself to cough into a wet wash cloth pressed firmly over your mouth and nose, which will cause greater pressure in your lungs, forcing them to expand more and break loose more of the congestion. 4. eat healthy and eat regularly. need to keep up your nourishing strength. 5. once the fever breaks, start moving around to get your body a little more in shape and blood circulating. 6. take deep breaths on a regular basis. even if it hurts. not doing that makes it easier for pneumonia to develop. pursed lip breaking really helps. breath in deep and slow, then exhale thru tight lips like you're blowing out a candle. blow til you have completely emptied your lungs and you'll be able to breath in an even deeper breath. this will help keep lungs expanded, as well as increase your oxygen level. 7. remember - every med you take is only relieving symptoms, not making you well. 8. if you're still dying, go to the e.r. (uh, I'm guessing a little industry-related gallows humor here? lol)

Dry cough...check. Extreme tiredness...check. Fever...check. Cuz I got nothin else goin on. A teaspoon of sea salt in 6 oz. of warm water. Stir til the salt dissolves and gargle 20 seconds, spit out , repeat , then repeat again. Several studies have found that gargling several times a day with warm saltwater can reduce swelling in the throat and loosen mucus, helping to flush out irritants or bacteria. Gargling with salt water also helps to remove the mucus build-up in your respiratory tract and nasal cavity. The concoction reduces the inflammation and relieves the pain in the throat. Apart from that, it flushes out the bacteria and virus, which if left unattended can lead to congestion. IOWs, it works. Use non-iodized salt.

Other than the tickle and cough, nothing else. It was the fever and fatique that got my attention last Thursday. That and, more alarming than all of it, no desire at all for a glass of cabernet.

UPDATE
Got tested today. Nasty-ass test. Very unpleasant but at least it's quick. Rule is, I hunker down 14 days from today unless it comes up negative. I still have fever, but am feeling a shitload better than 4-5 days ago, so I think if positive it is probably already well on the wane.
