Been a long time since LL, but wasn't there a rule that every kid had to play at least an inning or two? Seemed like there were always those either young or baseball challenged kids playing the last few innings in the outfield. Yes everyone played but I didnt start the game. The key to playing alot is for your dad to be a coach...
...or be a 6 ft, 170lb 12 year old...

...or be a 6 ft, 170lb 12 year old... We had 3 or 4 biggies when I coached my boys in majors (11-12). Really loved throwing BP to those kids with aluminum bats from 45 feet. I started throwing BP wearing a catchers mitt. More leather to knock balls down. They still managed to tag me pretty good about once a week.

You guys are a little older than I am but the rule when I played was at least one inning in the field and one at bat. I think it has since changed to two innings in the field and one at bat. About half those kids were there because of their parents and didn't want to play or were scared to death to play. We had a 10 yo who would cry and wrap his fingers in the wire of the dugout to keep from being pulled to bat by his dad. Felt horrible for that kid.

...or be a 6 ft, 170lb 12 year old... That's about the size my older brother was at that age. "Legend" has it, he hit 48 HRs in 16 games as a 12 year old. My Dad is adamant it happened (his memory for sports stats is ridiculous), my brother plays dumb and I use the story to remind him how many millions he missed out on by quitting in HS. 😃

My daughter had a girl on her volleyball team that just wanted to be in the theatre yet her Mom forced her to play. She was miserable at tournaments.

Glad you got your participation trophy. I fully admit I was a (much) better basketball player but the game of baseball was in my blood and I loved playing it. Loved both as well. Baseball also in my blood. Played a ton of each. Our baseball team in high school sucked. Our basketball team OTOH was damn good...undefeated state champs.

My Dad is adamant it happened (his memory for sports stats is ridiculous), my brother plays dumb and I use the story to remind him how many millions he missed out on by quitting in HS. 😃 There are always a handful of those kids playing on the smaller fields. It can get scary. We had several big 12-year-olds throwing 70 to 75 mph off a 45-foot mound. And at that age they don't have the control that professionals have that are throwing the 90 plus equivalent from 60[6" The biggest 12 year old we had when my twins were that age wound up being drafted and playing few years of minor league ball. One of our catchers, Robert Coello, was drafted, switched to pitching and he got a few years in the majors as a relief pitcher. And I had Yankees pitcher Jamieson Taillons older brother a couple of years. He was good but I wish we could have had Jamieson instead. He was born when our kids were in the 10 year old league so that didn't work out. <g>

My daughter had a girl on her volleyball team that just wanted to be in the theatre yet her Mom forced her to play. She was miserable at tournaments. I had a woman who wanted her 12 year old to play ball and he had never played before and was not athletic one bit. I convinced her to put him in Fall Ball and got him assigned to my team. This kid was so bad, and I never thought I'd see this happen, I had him in left field when this big kid came up to bat. . I figured we were safe because this kid usually hit the ball out of the 180 feet outfield on those fields. This time he ripped a line drive right at this poor kid and he never moved. It skimmed off the top of his head and mom then allowed him to quit playing baseball.
