We have no teflon and no aluminum cookware in the house. Only cast iron and SS. Teflon is poison. Aluminum is poison. A lot of people continue using a teflon pan after it's been overheated and have no clue that they're poisoning themselves with every use. I've never seen a warning label alluding to either of yer claims....Aluminum sautee pans are a staple in commercial kitchens..... No kidding. To each their own. |

I do ,or I should say my wife does. Of course she went to MN to help her sister take care of her Mom, and she took that one with her.  she loves that knife. Its a smaller one though.(fookers are expensive) |

Robb, I'm really diggin' on your 12" Dexter... I've never had a 12" chef's knife and may have to pick up a vintage forged example with the old growth rosewood handles....  |

Years ago my niece Johanna was selling Cutco knives. Whenever you start out doing home sales the company always wants you to start with people you know so they'll have a hard time telling you "No." So Johanna shows up with her trainer for her very first sale...and she starts out by warning the guy "My uncle really knows his way around the kitchen." My wife stood aside and watched, smiling. Johanna started her pitch about how razor sharp Cutco knives were with their scalloped edges...then it was demonstration time. They pulled out a cutting board and a piece of 1/2" thick hemp rope, told me to get my best knife and cut it. Johanna fell silent as I brought out Dexter, so her Supervisor chimed in....."Go ahead and try to cut that rope...you'll probably have to saw it!" I put the edge down on the rope, pressed down WITHOUT sawing, and watch their eyes bug out as I sliced cleanly through with no effort. The trainer gulped...my niece laughed and said "I told you guys". As a consolation prize I did buy a couple of pieces for my wife though.... |

Had a neighbor kid go though the Cutco speil with us... We did it as a favor to help him get through school. I told the kid upfront we couldn't afford to buy anything and he said it was ok, that he got credit for trying. I couldn't believe how much that crap sells for! Still, he had to go through the routine of getting on the phone with his handler to cut us some special deals. He did the rope, cut the penny with scissors, etc. He was nervous and I had to calm him down so he didn't hurt himself because he was just starting out, was very nervous and had to read from the "script". I showed him my knives and he understood why I wasn't going to buy anything.
