Probation? This clown really needed to see what life in a 5x8 is like. How he got off with probation is anyone's guess. He was convicted in October of conspiracy to engage in the business of dealing firearms without a license.
As part of the scheme, Arao purchased the firearms — all Colt .38 super-caliber handguns — that were not available to the general public, but which could be legally purchased by law enforcement officers through Ronin Tactical Group, a federal firearms licensee that Arao owned.
In a previous trial in November 2019, a Los Angeles federal jury found Arao guilty of two felony charges and found Fernandez guilty of conspiracy, selling firearms to a convicted felon, engaging in an unlicensed firearms business, and making false statements in federal firearms licensing paperwork.www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/ex-gardena-police-officer-in-illegal-firearms-sales-case-gets-probation/ar-AAT2Ev3?ocid=msedgntp

They ARE supposed to be good for target shooting, I think. There is no semiauto handgun of any specific caliber in the civilized United States that is restricted to law enforcement only. I see that this case was in Commiefornia, where the gun laws there are extremely stupid, and those guns were probably not on their "approved for sale to civilians" list, and most likely only because their magazine capacity exceeds Californication's arbitrary limit.
The man committed a "crime" that is perfectly legal in normal states, except for the selling to convicted felons and falsifying documents parts. For that, there is NO excuse.
Hey, it's California, where people who commit VIOLENT CRIMES are allowed to walk. Hell, they don't even arrest major thieves!
Blame your Governor and your DA's because he isn't locked up. YOU elected them.

As I read it, they were FEDERAL charges, not state charges, so no, they could not have done it in other states, and the state had nothing to do with the prosecution.

Sorry, but there is no federal law that prohibits the sale of .38 Super handguns to civilians. There is no federal law that prohibits the sale of ANY caliber handgun.
"Edward Yasushiro Arao, 51, of Eastvale was also ordered to serve 100 hours of community service and pay a $15,000 fine, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. He was convicted in October of conspiracy to engage in the business of dealing firearms without a license."
According to the article, that was the ONLY crime he was convicted of. Maybe you should actually read the entire article and put things in their proper chronological order.

I said that selling .38 Super firearms is not a crime, and that they are NOT restricted to law enforcement only, as the article claims.
You whined about him getting only probation, when in fact considering the relatively minor administrative offense for which he was convicted, is appropriate.

Only thing I can think of is the pistols aren't on the CA DOJ certifieded for sale handgun roster, which is a complete bullshit end around on 2A for law-abiding Californians. www.oag.ca.gov/firearms/certified-handguns/searchOnly four pistols chambered in .38 Super are on the list. Not a single Colt so that was his crime. As usual, bullshit leftism posted by our chief bullshit artist.

Unless you really stay on top of things you might not even know about all the constantly changing existing laws and new laws. You'd be amazed at how many here have AR's they bought long ago legally and still own but they don't even know they have to either be registered as "assault weapons" or modified to be brought into compliance. Just one unrelated visit by LE who of course will ask if you have any guns in the house. Don't EVER talk to the police when it's YOU on their radar. Number One rule. I am so counting down the days I can take that communistic shit off my AR's and breathe freedom again. It'll be an MLKjr moment.

I also got lost why mentioning the .38 Super was included in the Fed legal procedure. That is the State of Cali decision not to include that specific Brand AND caliber in their approved list. Making it unavailable to the general public in Cali. Not your fault or did you have any input to include. Just an insignificant part of the main story. Sidebar, that round in any frame used to be a hot gun to get into Mexico as it was legal in Mexico because it’s not a military or police round. May still be, don’t know. The round is available w other brand platforms in Cali. Colt just was recently not interested in submitting that combo for Cali approval.

Felons buying guns is no big deal? Thanks for identifying the problem. If that felon shot a cop the next day, I bet you'd change your tune.

I am so counting down the days I can take that communistic shit off my AR's and breathe freedom again. It'll be an MLKjr moment. People need to learn they don't have to answer ANY questions from a police officer. If you are actually arrested, you must provide identification. If you are stopped for a traffic violation, you must provide your D/L, registration, and proof of insurance, if the state requires insurance. That's IT. But for goodness' sake, do not argue vigorously about the ticket. If the officer has his mind made up, just accept the ticket and contest it in court, not on the side of the road. You won't win there.
"Where are you going?" He has no right know.
"Where are you coming from?" He has no right to know. "Do you have any weapons in the car?" He has no right to know. But don't be rude or antagonistic. Calmly explain you are exercising your right to not answer questions.

Felons buying guns is no big deal? Thanks for identifying the problem. If that felon shot a cop the next day, I bet you'd change your tune. Was Arao charged with selling guns to felons? No he was NOT. Therefore, the crime he was convicted of is no big deal. It is a paperwork crime.
Please pay attention.
Felons buy guns all the time ........... from other felons who have stolen them, usually. The problem is the FELONS.
And no, if a cop is shot, I blame the SOB who shot him, not the weapon he used. It is the felon who should be put to death, not the gun. Wake up.
