LOL...nice try, but that never happened. Those folks said they wouldn't take a vaccine that Trump said was safe. I wouldn't either, just as I wouldn't swallow light bulbs and drink Lysol if Trump said I should. It did happen. Kamela Harris said she would not take the Covid vaccine if Trump said to take it. Well, Trump got the vaccine developed in record time and Kamela got the shot as soon as the politicians jumped to the front of the line to get them and their families vaccinated, before health care workers. We saw where their priorities lie. Would you use Lysol to clean your table and countertops? What if your children dropped a cookie on a freshly cleaned countertop or table and then ate the Lysol-infused cookie?Just stop. Geez... “If the public health professionals, if Dr. [Anthony] Fauci, if the doctors tell us that we should take it, I’ll be the first in line to take it. Absolutely. But if Donald Trump tells us that we should take it. I’m not taking it.” - Kamala Harris during VP debate.

Presidential election results are not, IMO, demonstrative of whether or not a state is red or blue. Ohio, for instance, hasn't been blue since Hector was a pup. I think you'd be on firmer ground by listing them by control of state legislatures. Try this: ballotpedia.org/Partisan_composition_of_state_legislaturesIf you scroll down to the map of "trifectas", that IMO, is the closest to defining who is red and who is blue, or which states are split. Just asking, for your view and you gave it. In my map, using the latest data, it's 7-4 Red. At worst 8-3 Red. Now if the data I used is bogus, <shrug> I just googled and pulled up the first one. Further I sincerely believe there is more to any story than a State's commonly accepted political affiliation. Specific segments, which often don't mirror the state political bent, can skew the numbers, for one variable. Others?
www.statista.com/statistics/1109011/coronavirus-covid19-death-rates-us-by-state/ Well we've gone from Walt's 1 Blue State in the top ten to 4. But if you want to just use death totals w/o rates. You can see the totals are 8 Blue and 2 Red in the top 10. www.statista.com/statistics/1103688/coronavirus-covid19-deaths-us-by-state/
In the top 10, 8 Blue States totaled 371.200. The 2 Red States 154,000. Of the 951,000 deaths attributed to COVID, In our death Top 10, Blue states accounted for 39%, Red 16.2%.
Same story of B V R re cases. www.statista.com/statistics/1102807/coronavirus-covid19-cases-number-us-americans-by-state/

And what kind of silly is ranking by total deaths and not rate/100k? Every man, woman and child in Wyoming could have died of Covid and it wouldn't make the top 10. (I exaggerate, but you get the point).

(I exaggerate, but you get the point). Using my map, NY, NJ, Michigan & Az. Actually my mistake was adding WV. My error. Using the data I provided those states are in the top 11 w 2 tied at #10. AZ is a stretch so we are at 3. <shrug> Or are you now saying Trump was right and he got screwed? I don't agree w that BTW.
I see nothing silly about counting dead people. Cali is #1 in dead people and infections, that's statistically relevant. And it's a 90% Blue State. If they are so enlightened, they would have done better. Or are you suggesting the impacted demographic mirrors Mississippi. And if it does, should be ignored.

Many simply ignored the guidelines and I don't mean just the kooks like Fred. I mean folks who gave lip service to the idea and then ignored it in going about their own lives. I saw it all the time. In fact, I think the entire country did a terrible job in combatting the virus. I don't think enough people took it seriously enough and made it impossible to isolate the virus and slow the spread.
