Damn. Just when you thought the training set was over. Back in the pool, one arm over then the other. Rinse and repeat. The coach will let you know when to stop and leave the pool. Gonna be a grind but, what's the option? Good luck. Went into the pool for the first time since spine surgery about a month ago. Two titanium rods has ended swimming as exercise for now. The spinal rotation required to swim smoothly just isn't there. I felt totally uncomfortable in a place that always felt as natural as dry land to me for my entire life. I was stunned at how bad it was. So, funny you should put it that way...I am literally relearning how to swim too. You still have the heart of a champion and strength of mind to rise up and win. That’s what swimming showed you have.

So sorry to hear about the recent kidney problems, Walter.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
And here's hoping that Cowboy's lung problem is benign.

While Cane get's a new new knee, I just spent the week in the hospital after my kidneys decided to shut down. A gazillion tests later, apparently my cancer immunotherapy drug told my immune system that my kidneys looked suspiciously like cancer and it should go after them. So I am on massive steriods to battle it out with the immunotherapy drug until it peters out which will take about a month. And THAT will make me susceptible to COVID temporarily. "Well, Mr. Richard Fader, it just goes to show, it's always something!". On the plus side, for the first time in my life I am now certain I don't not have HIV or HepC, so all the gay sex and heroin needleswapping played no part in it. Holy cow! In other news. My doctor had me take a CT scan last week to check my right lung after my recent bout with pneumonia. Something on the scan caused her concern so I go for a PET Scan Monday. Rats! PET scan results show no cancer. Spot on lung is residual from the pneumonia. I go back to my doctor in a month for X-ray and follow up.

I was stunned at how bad it was. So, funny you should put it that way...I am literally relearning how to swim too. One of the downsides of the knee surgery is that I won't be able to get in the pool for about a month or so. I too can't swim laps anymore but it's on my own stupidity. I used to swim laps for an hour every day and got cocky and tried pushing it to an hour and a half and sometimes two hours. Having a scarred-up rotator cuff from the 80s I always tried to take things with my shoulder pretty easy and hadn't had any pain with it for some time. Well, about three years ago when I started pushing the laps out longer and longer I woke up one morning and couldn't lift the arm again. Gradually got back to mostly normal but anytime I try to swim laps for more than one or two laps I begin to feel that familiar ache and have to stop.
