Kidney biopsy done this morning. Results in 2 or 3 days. Felt weird lying face down on a bed and feeling the doctor insert a long needle through my back, run me through a CT scan to see how close to my kidney it is, then readjusting the needle and another scan to see if it on target, then move it again and scan again and find it on target. Then I feel the needle moving as he retrieves the sample and removes the needle.
I got Demerol to numb me, a valium to relax me, and something like novocain to numb my back for the needle insertion. Wait took an hour, prep took about 30 minutes, procedure about 30 minutes, and the wait after for doctor to release me took 1 1/2 hours. Arrived at hospital at 6 am, left at 1 pm.

Just when I think I have problems, I hear about someone with problems. Last week a tornado did major damage to many homes in Hazel Green, a few miles north of Huntsville, Al. A single mother with an 8 year old girl, lost their home and everything in it. Included in their loss was her daughters (very expensive) medication. The girl is being treated for leukemia at St. Judes in Memphis, and was home after her latest round of treatment. Neighbors, including many dealing with damage to their own homes, have rallied to find a nearby vacant home for them and assisted in finding furniture and clothing for them. A local pilot with a plane arranged to fly them to Memphis to get replacement medication. Some contractors are assisting in getting their home repaired, and her employer has send checks to every neighbor that has helped to assist in their home repairs.
I increased my monthly donations to St Jude and wrote to St Jude that it is in this girls honor.
