They murdered the Orthodox bishops and priests in concentration camps, including Solovki, and they demolished or closed the Orthodox churches in Russia -- turning the buildings into gymnasiums and skating rinks, or appointing KGB agents as bishops and priests to spy on the public. I have known Soviet emigres who grew up using gymnasiums and skating rinks in converted Russian Orthodox churches in the U.S.S.R. The atheistic Bolsheviks (Lenin, Stalin, Beria, Yagoda) perpetrated the worst genocide in world history-- according to Jared Diamond and other scholars-- murdering an estimated 20 million Russian Orthodox Christians. The (White) Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR) was established in 1918 in Serbia, Western Europe, and the U.S. by Russian bishops, priests, and families who had escaped from the Bolsheviks. I joined the ROCOR in 1997, and my spiritual father, a Russian Orthodox priest, wrote the definitive history of the ROCOR. Unfortunately, Putin and the KGB/FSB seized the ROCOR parishes in Western Europe and the U.S. in 2007-- through a carefully orchestrated internal coup. Our family has never been in communion with Putin and his KGB/Moscow Patriarchate. We went under the omophorion of Metropolitan Agafangel of Odessa (Ukraine) in 2007. The exiled ROCOR bishops never recognized the KGB-controlled Moscow Patriarchate as a canonically legitimate Orthodox Church after 1921. Even the KGB referred to the ROCOR as "the True Orthodox Church" in the 20th century-- as opposed to the KGB pseudo-Church run by the Kremlin. Putin is an MP/KGB Orthodox Christian in Name Only-- an OCINO. He lights a candle on Pascha-- for the television cameras-- while murdering his critics.
