4 best teams. Fsu isn't one without their top two qb. Undefeated or not. Louisville isn't done with them yet. One, Ohio State won a national championship with their third string QB. Two, FSU will have Rodemaker back for the Semis so they won't be playing their third string QB. I hate the 4 best teams argument because it completely discredits winning your conference, which, by the way, is still one of the main criteria the committee is supposed to consider, as Harry pointed out. FSU is an UNDEFEATED Power 5 champion. One of only three. I don't care if they are starting their waterboy at QB, that has to count for something. It has to. BAMA has the best win of any team being considered, also the champ of the toughest conference in cfb. That said,Next year, with 12 teams, this won't be an issue.

Agree with the best win part but the two 1-loss teams in consideration happened to play each other and that outcome should absolutely matter. The "toughest conference" piece could be debated, though. I think the Pac 12 was (surprisingly) strong this year and the Big 12 was pretty strong, too. The SECs 3rd and 4th best teams were Ole Miss and Missouri. Neither strikes fear in anyone. Neither does Tennessee or aTm at 5 and 6. It was Georgia and Bama and everyone else. The B1G had a drop off from years past and the ACC was trash again.

I think you are probably right but if that happens, I am dying to hear how the committee spins it based on the protocol to consider head-to-head. It wouldn't be a hypothetical scenario of what we think would happen if they played... they did play.

Best bet is the SEC is out. Losing by 2 scores on your home field against a team that is 1) ranked ahead of you and 2) kicked the shit out of their opponent in their championship game matters. FSU’s defense is legit. Suggesting that Louisville was packing it in was nonsense. They were a top 20 offense who was playing for a championship and an Orange Bowl berth.

Clearly you know nothing of the rivalry. And yes, they beat the back to back NC on a 29 game win streak in their backyardBest bet is the SEC is out. Losing by 2 scores on your home field against a team that is 1) ranked ahead of you and 2) kicked the shit out of their opponent in their championship game matters. South alabama, ucf and iowa st also kicked the shit out of okst. The 4 best teams NOW not in week two. BAMA has the best win of any team in the country and are the sec champions.FSU’s defense is legit. Suggesting that Louisville was packing it in was nonsense. They were a top 20 offense who was playing for a championship and an Orange Bowl berth. Other than lsu,and a declining Louisville, who has fsu beaten?

And yes, they beat the back to back NC on a 29 game win streak in their backyardOn the contrary…I know plenty about it. You still needed a prayer on 4th and 31 to win against a 6-6 team who couldn’t muster 100 yards passing.Best bet is the SEC is out. Losing by 2 scores on your home field against a team that is 1) ranked ahead of you and 2) kicked the shit out of their opponent in their championship game matters. BAMA has the best win of any team in the country and are the sec champions. The entire season has to matter. The fact that you have a “1” in the loss column…matters. The fact that the team that gave you that “1” is ranked ahead of you, and beat you on your home field by 2 scores…matters.FSU’s defense is legit. Suggesting that Louisville was packing it in was nonsense. They were a top 20 offense who was playing for a championship and an Orange Bowl berth. Other than lsu,and a declining Louisville, who has fsu beaten? You can look up more information on your own…

Neither does Tennessee or aTm at 5 and 6. It was Georgia and Bama and everyone else. The B1G had a drop off from years past and the ACC was trash again. mike beat me to it. overall it was a down year for the majority of the sec from the admittedly high bar its set in the past. the talent drain from '22 affected uga, they finished the season much less healthy than the past 2 seasons, and losing the oklahoma game from their schedule hurt their sos and that of the conference; the tide lost a home game to texas, struggled to beat usf and needed a miracle to survive the plains; I'd argue that mizzou was really the 3rd best team in the sec thx to their ooc win over a decent quality kansas st, a scheduling factor that ol' miss hasn't incorporated since playing florida st back in '16; lsu had a nice win over missouri but lost to the seminoles by a larger margin than they did to the tide. this year, the biggest thorn is the overall ooc record. since the sec insists on just 8 league games when the rest of the power 5 plays 9, imho that is an advantage that doesn't get talked enough. by my count the sec went 7-9 vs power 5 opponents. auburn, who had 1 of the wins (14-10 at cal in a game that was less exciting than the 2 ccg's last night) also lost at home to new mexico st. by 3 td's as a 23 pt favorite. 2 of those 7 wins were over ga tech (by uga and mississippi). who had the most prominent ooc win? mizzou over k-state? uk knocking off l'ville last saturday? mississippi st beating arizona? the most prominent sec members who had high profile early ooc games (alabama and lsu) both lost by double digits, and georgia didn't have a high quality game. in the past when those ooc games were wins they were leverage points that helped. this year they hurt, legitimately so imho.

Wouldn't surprise me if fsu gets left out. That’s less likely than Bama getting in. A lot of pundits disagree. BAMA is the hottest team in cfb, fsu has injury issues which the committee factors in.
