LSU definitely needs a defense, but Miller Moss and the entire USC offense did a very good job. USC was the better team tonight, but it's hard to win when you have to beat THEM, the announcers, AND the refs.
This was a great catch, but it should have been called back on an offensive holding call on USC (at 00:04) that was NOT called. LSU was not good enough to overcome crap like this:
Oh well ............. leave it behind, find a defense, and stop making stupid mistakes all over. It was good to see John Emery back after last year's knee injury. His entire career at LSU has been rocky, but he has never quit. Neither team was afraid to play a REAL team to start the season, and that's what matters the most.

Both teams showed some significant improvement in defense. I am really happy about the USC D. Great game. A few LSU mistakes made the difference.

Both teams showed some significant improvement in defense. I am really happy about the USC D. Great game. A few LSU mistakes made the difference. USC looked DAMN GOOD, except for those sneaky offensive linemen's hands. But hell, we should be used to it. Alabama is the MASTER of hiding holding penalties from the refs.
LSU DID make their fair share of stupid penalties, too, especially the totally unnecessary targeting by LSU's #2. THEN they relaxed, thinking that USC would set up a chip shot FG.
Riley was the better coach tonight ----- he coached more like Orgeron, "We are a tank, and we are gonna run you over." Kelly was FURIOUS about every aspect of his team's performance, BUT HE TOOK THE BLAME for not coaching them up well enough. He is a great leader in the making ---- another Les Miles who the players will run through brick walls for.
I just hope I don't have to wait 40 MORE years for another game. At 111 yoa, I probably wouldn't care.

I said early on that ranking them at #13 was too high, and I was right. But one win or loss does not a season make.
USC deserved the win.

Understood It’s always more nerve wracking than fun when it’s your own team. I’m the same way with OU games. And, yes…USC deserved the win. Hard for me to watch USC….always liked them as a kid, and in later years when I lived in L.A. Good times at the games, and their fan base is a lot of fun to be around. Today, though, hard for me to get over my disdain for Lincoln Riley.

Gee, thanks DirecTV... I left DirecTV years ago after they refused to air both Dodger games, Pac12 network and Laker games, all over money. That finally ended a few years ago and I was offered a sweet intro deal to switch to them last year, so I did. BIG MISTAKE....The jackasses haven't changed a bit. I don't get the local ABC affiliate to watch local news, I don't get any ESPN, and if I had it, I wouldn't be getting Disney+ either. I may finally be pushed into cutting the cable altogether.

I cut the cable 3 years ago. We have YouTube and like it very much. About 6 months ago I dropped internet for T-Mobile. We have a box that sits in a window to receive T-Mobile signal from a mobile phone tower. Three TVs in various rooms give us access to just about anything we want to watch. Also provides internet for computers.

The Dodgers and Lakers both have TV deals with Spectrum, so I've got to be certain those channels run on YouTube. In addition, USC, I guess, is now with the Big10 Network, so there's that as well. Another problem: I don't watch a lot of TV, and I still have an old, dumb TV. So, that got me looking into a new TV as well. That may end up being my 'Happy Birthday to ME' next month.

And last but certainly not least....THIS bit of sweetness:
"I think that's where it starts to unravel for Lincoln. I totally expect Lincoln Riley to show what an average coach he is. I think that game, people will be able to turn off the TV and go to sleep early that night because it won't be that close." - Paul Feinbaum
This is almost precisely what our old friend Mark May said about the season opener for the Trojans with their new second year coach back in 2003, something like, "Auburn is going beat USC badly; this is not even going to be close." . Final score: USC 23 - Auburn 0

Blame your woke Disney heroes for that. THEY blocked DirectTV from receiving ABC.

He ALWAYS made his show about those two, no matter what.
I'm surprised he praised Auburn at all.
