Again, not as AVID as I once was, but still a baseball fan... Last night, I was surfing channels and on MLB, I came across a title as above...Don't know yet, but last night's venture was Starting Pitchers...The top 9 since integration in 1947, I think it was...kept my interest for the entire time slot... There are some boundaries/parameters, but this being my first watch, I haven't looked it all up yet. Anyways, their top 9 follows:
#9 - Clayton Kershaw #8 - Nolan Ryan #7 - Sandy Koufax #6 - Pedro Martinez #5 - Roger Clemens #4 - Greg Maddux #3 - Warren Spahn #2 - Tom Seaver #1 - Randy Johnson
On the surface, pretty good start...haven't had time to really go over the list & compare to come up with any differences...but anyways, I thought I'd put it out here so anyone else could check it out & give an opinion...

Good list. Off the top of my head, I'd add Bob Gibson and Steve Carlton.

since integration in 1947__so that's maybe why Bob Feller was off the list. He played from '36 to '56 minus 4 years for the war effort. He still should be there

And if you add Gibson, which of those nine do you eliminate?

I'd take off maddux to add gibson, martinez to add feller, and imho there's no way you put anyone ahead of koufax. but definitely an intriguing 'best of' list concept.

LOL...Last night, before bed, I checked the menu for the rest of the night, and recorded the 'next' episode...I had been under the impression this was a relatively new project. I got up a couple hours before Sharon, and watched the recording...first aired on 7/20/2011. Episode 13 was Relief Pitchers... 9 - Bruce Sutter 8 - Billy Wagner 7 - Lee Smith 6 - Dennis Eckersley 5 - Rollie Fingers 4 - Goose Gossage 3 - Trevor Hoffman 2 - Hoyt Wilhelm 1 - Mariano Rivera (of course)

Recorded Episode 1 last night...CFs...
9 - Kirby Puckett 8 - Richie Ashburn 7 - Andruw Jones 6 - Carlos Beltran 5 - Duke Snider 4 - Mike Trout 3 - Ken Griffey jr 2 - Mickey Mantle 1 - Willie Mays
Personally, growing up in the middle of the Mantle, Mays, Snider debates...most of the others seem like imposters.

In his day Griffey was pretty damn good. Just saying. As was Jim Edmonds. kenny lofton probably is 2nd 10 at best in the eyes of many, but I think he had top 10 stats at the plate, in the field and on the bases. below is from mlb.com on some should/could be hof's; By the numbers, Lofton has a real Hall of Fame case, but he might have been hurt by being a contact hitter and speedster in a power-hitting age. His 622 stolen bases rank 15th all-time, and he led the AL in steals five straight seasons from 1992-96 while leading the Majors three of those years. Lofton made six straight All-Star teams from '94-99 and placed in the MVP voting four times, finishing as high as fourth. He was an excellent defender, winning four straight Gold Glove Awards in center field from 1993-96. Lofton's 68.4 career WAR ranks ninth all-time among center fielders. He's one of only nine players with 600 career steals and 600 extra-base hits; he's the only one not in the Hall of Fame
