USC enraged at Nebraska football players during pregame prayer Nebraska football players doing their pregame prayer before the game really angered USC Oliver Vandervoort| 2:06 PM CST Scott Clarke/GettyImages It appears that USC is looking for ways to get fired up ahead of its game against the Nebraska football team. That’s really about the only explanation that really makes sense for why they took such great offense to the Huskers praying at midfield before the game. To be clear, NU has done this before every game this season. While this is only the fourth road game Nebraska has played in, none of the other three teams had an issue with the team prayer at midfield. If USC was looking for reasons to get mad, it appears it worked, because the tussle became big enough that local police officers had to get involved. That there were Trojans coaches involved would certainly seem to indicate someone saw the Nebraska football team out there and decided to use it as a motivator. Nebraska football gets into a pre-game tussle with USC players On3’s Sean Callahan wrote on Twitter that he heard some Trojans players who were still quite made after the scrape walking back to their locker room. “The game hasn’t event started and they are starting sh**,” Callahan claims he heard the player say. This isn’t the first time in the Matt Rhule era that his team and an opponent have had words about the pregame prayer. In the second game of the season, the Colorado Buffaloes took great issue with the same situation and were so angry about it that starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders complained about the “lack of disrespect” after the game. Here’s hoping Nebraska football allows this incident to fire them up, rather than USC. The Huskers lost that game last year to Colorado 36-14. huskercorner.com/usc-enraged-nebraska-football-pregame-prayer-01jcv7b90pxk

What a ridiculous thing to become enraged about. Being angry and starting any kind of altercation over a team pregame prayer is ludicrous and just wrong. I’m glad that Nebraska win or lose adheres to this practice. Only in intolerant secular places has this ever become a problem.

I haven't found any video of what happened yet. If the NU players were simply gathered in a prayer circle, and the USC players came to them in a deliberate attempt to provoke trouble, USC should be fined for allowing their players harass the Nebraska players. No different from fining a school that allows its fans to throw debris on, or charging the field. Maintaining order and some form of decorum should be first and foremost.
I don't know what USC's problem is, but I salute the Nebraska football program for encouraging their players to participate in the exercise of their freedom of speech.

The only video I found but didn’t watch was behind a pay wall at the Lincoln Journal Star so far. Interrupting a prayer session is a new low in college sports. 🏈

Coaches clapping, not a single head bowed, no one locking arms and not a single player kneeling down.

I don't know what USC's problem is, but I salute the Nebraska football program for encouraging their players to participate in the exercise of their freedom of speech. It was an intentional act of disrespect. Imagine N players locking arms and jumping and clapping over the top of The Eye during pregame in Baton Rouge and you get an idea of what happened. This antic isn't new in CFB, (right, Mr. Mayfield?) but pretending it was a 'prayer' might be unique, though it manages to disrepect God too in the process. If they truly were praying, 1) They should be on a knee, and 2) they should be on their own sideline, not on top of the SC logo at midfield. It was a bush league stunt. I thought Ruhle was better than that. Apparently not.

I'm sure there have been instances of opponents disrespecting the Eye of the Tiger, but I can't recall any instances where LSU players decide to go attack them.
IF it was disrespect on NU's part, then the USC players should have shown they have more class, and let it go.
This was much different than the usual cases where two opposing players bump into each other, start fighting, and both benches empty on the field for a brawl.
Who won the game?

Just too bad that USuCk has their people so brainwashed/indoctrinated that no one could join the Huskers in prayer...Constitutional right to do that, you know...

That's not what I was told by a Husker fan...maybe at the moment a picture was taken, but the purpose of the 'meeting of the minds' there was for team prayer... AND...that's what the Subject title line says as well...

That's not what I was told by a Husker fan...maybe at the moment a picture was taken, but the purpose of the 'meeting of the minds' there was for team prayer... AND...that's what the Subject title line says as well... Fair enough but the videos I have seen, there was no prayer and it didn't look like there was going to be a prayer anytime soon. I have never seen coaches trying to fire players up by clapping and bouncing around right before a prayer. Rhule has come under fire for this charade in the past as well but what cements my belief that they had no intention of praying is the team has a long standing tradition of praying in the tunnel right before the game. I believe "The Husker Prayer" was started by Osborne but the team continues the tradition today, with heads bowed and arms locked just before they rush onto the field. What they do at midfield looks nothing like that.
