Again...what would you do differently if you had such autonomy? Be specific. Let’s start with parental rights in the education of our kids and keeping boys out of girls bathrooms and off of girls sports teams and competitions. Keep DEI and CRT out of our schools. More school choice. Cities in full control of their housing and zoning rules. The right of a county to approve or not projects within it based on the public response and safety issues and the right to support chosen industry within a city or county. Protect source water rights in local areas from state control. The right of a city or county to set its own voting requirements and counting rules as permissible under the US constitution. Just for starters at a minimum. So your idea to improve reading, math and science scores is to keep boys out of the girl's bathroom? Seriously? You think DEI and CRT damage our kids' ability to read? This is why your side loses elections. WTF kind of education policy is THAT to fix reading and math scores? And BTW, you missed the Bible and the 10 Commandments nonsense. As long as you're going to spout redhat bullshit, you might as well go all out.. SMH....

I was talking about autonomy and what we want in red areas to get along and not push secession, merging with another state, lawsuits, and general outright defiance. Stay on one topic instead of trying to change it with each answer here. Our advantage is school choice for every parent for their students and having a great charter, hybrid, home school system to augment traditional public schools and make everyone better. Our test scores are good and we have some excellent schools here. As to DEI and CRT they don’t matter here really because even if they are officially on the books no one here actually teaches that crap and students don’t believe it anyway. This is 1776 country where the school day starts with the Pledge of Allegiance every morning even in high school.

It is a fair criticism. I asked you how we should fix it so kids learn more and better. Your response was to keep boys out of girl's bathrooms. That is the state of the discussion. To that, you now claim that kids should recite the Pledge of Allegiance every day. I presume you think that is another remedy to help schools improve their education and raise test scores.

Jesus you’re a spineless wimp. If you don’t have any ideas, but are simply content to bitch and moan…move away. They broke it they fix it. I have no intention of lifting a finger to do anything to help California until it turns red. They broke it, parts of the state are moveing red. We can simply take what’s working in our local schools and take it to their areas when we have the power to do so. Education is mostly a local area issue so the people in the areas with failing schools are going to have to adapt to what works over ideological purity and obeisance to the teachers unions Is Redding Red? Half of Shasta HS students are rated below 50% in math and science, according to US News. Giving your students slip-on shoes won't help their math proficiency.

It was exposing Newscums manipulation of bad numbers for the state across a range of issues and put up a fig leaf of supposed good news to cover up for himself and his stupid party.

Thanks for your input about improving our schools. How does it improve our schools to let boys in the girls' bathrooms or locker rooms? In case you forgot already, the country gave a big "FU" 13 days ago to that, and a lot of other screwy ideas you libs have.

It was exposing Newscums manipulation of bad numbers for the state across a range of issues and put up a fig leaf of supposed good news to cover up for himself and his stupid party. Education failures was the primary item cited, and it was a partisan rant that then completely failed to 1) take any blame for failings in your own neighborhoods, and 2) to identify any solutions (as is the usual for your posts). When asked about solutions to that one item, you suggested to us that gendered bathroom selectivity and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance daily would improve our schools' academics.

I do know that our kids K-12 ratings in reading and math are 14th and 17th out of the 58 California counties and that our high school graduation rate is among the highest in the state. We are also 3rd best in in the state among residents with some college which means a lot of our high school graduates spend at least some time at our local jr college. Yes we.are very red, the most red county in California with over 150,000 population. Our county which is our metro area too has 182,000 people in 3,800 square miles for a 45 person per sq mi density.

Concentration on the reading, writing, math, science, history and deleting time consuming DEI, CRT, gender issues from the curriculum, giving parents full access to their kids and all their information, and keeping girls safe in their spaces and teams. Also we passed most all of the local bonds to improve our local elementary and high schools. We also work to stay on top of things like vaping in the bathrooms, use of cell phones except before and after school and during lunch. We also have an armed community services officer on all of our high schools and jr high schools and rotating among the elementary schools. Safety, structure, concentration on academics, and also career life skills like agriculture, forestry, wood and metal working, auto shop, food services, music, art, and drama as well.

And me for posting it.To their credit, the Shasta County juvenile detention facility has a high school.
