Left behind by who? It’s one of the largest economies in the world by itself. So that all those who are leaving for work where they can afford to buy a home and have money to live on and to save while taking their jobs, investment, taxable income, businesses, and votes to Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Texas, Tennessee, Florida are stupidly leaving paradise for inferior places with fewer opportunities for them? Is that what you are saying? By 2050 Texas will have both a larger population and a larger population than California if California doesn’t change its ways. No, I’m saying that your bold prediction of “California will change or be left behind” is rather curious when its economy is nearly as large asthose 5 states combined.

The northeast, Chicago area and California are still living off of the fumes of past success while the new growth states are looked at by the left through the same outdated fumes of the past. The states of the old confederacy now has a greater GDP than the Washington DC /Baltimore northeast to New England states do.

We went thru a population boom in the 90s that we are still grappling with today. Let Texas take some of that heat for a bit. We still have work to do with the people we have. We do not need more.

Uh..you do know that the largest company on the planet right now based on book value is a California company, right? And you know that it has doubled in value in the past 18 months, right? So unless by fumes of past success you mean since last week, I think you are mistaken.

If you’re suggesting that California might have a smaller economy 150 years from now because a few people are moving away…it wouldn’t be due to policies of right now.

The blue states will continue to shed people, jobs, and investment as well as tax revenues as long as they persist on their current path. To the benefit of red states.

Well, since politics is an ever changing reality, I think that your claims don't mean a whole bunch. In fact, I fully expect the Dems to consider changing their platform in the wake of this particular election to attempt to be more considerate and accommodating of ideas that they think will win more votes. While I agree that Trump won and the GOP now has control of Congress and the WH, it wasn't like this was some sort of sea change. The House and Senate are still relatively even. Time will tell.

A lot could change for them if they discard their progressive fringe and go back to the 1990’s Clinton final 6 years third way policies. Republicans occupy that space now.

The GOP did that to win a mandate in the last election. No they didn’t. You embrace the GOP fringe positions. What you refer to as our fringe is actually our mainstream. The multiracial working and middle class theistic friendly coalition.

If you think your fringe (as I define it) is actually your mainstream, then you have no idea how I define it, or, the GOP has deeper problems than you believe.
