The craziest thing this season is now this great underdog story where Indiana has exceeded all these expectations to put themselves in position to possibly make the playoffs and they are now public enemy #1 with SEC fans and media. SEC fans and media believe Indiana may take a coveted playoff spot from one of 5 SEC teams who they believe all belong in the playoffs (UGA, Bama, Texas, Ole Miss, Tennessee).
If Indiana beats Ohio State, they will clearly get in assuming they beat Purdue next week. If Indiana loses a close game against Ohio State? I have no idea what the committee will do assuming the other favorites like Penn State and Texas win out. Does a 1 loss Indiana with a weak schedule and close loss to Ohio State deserve to get in over a 2 loss SEC team who had to face a gauntlet? What would be the difference between Indiana and Penn State as Penn State also had a relatively weak schedule and their only blemish is a one score loss to Ohio State?
I get the feeling this will be an annual debate. A team with a weaker schedule but better record competing for a spot over a team with a harder schedule but maybe has an extra loss.

Close, but no cigar. Nobody (except deluded 10RC fans) think Tennessee is Playoff caliber. As for Indiana, I wish them luck against ohio state. It looks like the Playoff Committee is being run by the Big10 commissioners office instead of the Alabama ADs office as in past years. Texas is no world beater, Wisky almost shamed Oregon, Alabama is beatable, and Georgia has a Jeckyll and Hyde QB. Texas A&M might upset their hated rival Texas, Georgia Tech could beat Georgia, South Carolina could beat Clemson, and Auburn at home could knock Alabama out of the Playoffs. I could easily see Old Miss and Texas or A&M as the only two SEC teams in the Playoff. How the Playoff Committee evaluates teams and makes rankings baffles just about everyone. Texas's best win is a 3 point victory over Vanderbilt. How they can be in the top 10 is beyond understanding. The SEC gave them the easiest schedule in their first year.

UGA i think has the highest ceiling of all the teams but like you said, their QB play hasn't been consistent. fwiw i love the new playoff system. 12 teams is the perfect number. and we are going to see awesome first round, meaningful matchups in some awesome venues. imagine UGA @ beaver stadium in December in the snow? would be awesome.

What is not being discussed is that the top four seeds are going to be conference champions...and especially now the the divisions have been put to rest, we have NO IDEA what that is going to look like. Whether you look at the AP rankings, or history, or whatever...we haven't a clue. ANY GIVEN SATURDAY...

IF Army does the unthinkable and beats ND on Saturday, then wins out and remains undefeated for the first time since 1949.................. A modern once in a lifetime thing for Army, don't be surprised if the Macgyver isn't in play, because it's Army. Just sayen. GO ARMY BEAT ND.

Fairly accurate re the QB. After the #1 QB got injured they didn't have a plan B. Step 1. Fire the OC. Done.

So are you saying Georgia should have been in the Playoff in 2023 due to back to back NCs in 2021 and 2022? Last year counts for this year?

As of today, the CFP ranking has 5 SEC and 4 B-10 teams in the playoffs.
That will most likely change, so no sense in worrying about it at this point. So far, Indiana hasn't beaten a single ranked opponent. Of all their opponents so far, ONLY Washington has a winning record, at 6-5.
I am NOT impressed.
The final 12 will have to prove they are worthy by playing actual games.

Yes UGA was one of the 4 best teams in the country last year. but they lost in the conference championship game so they sort of only have themselves to blame.

But they didn't use the Alabama Excuse of, "We had our two best players injured." In 2021, Alabama had the Heisman Trophy winner at QB and still lost to Georgia and a walk-on midget QB.

Yes, IU has beaten every one on their schedule and only one of those teams has a winning record. Beating nothing but losing teams is NOT impressive. As I said, only Washington has a winning record with a mighty 6-5 resume'. Indiana hasn't beaten any GOOD team.
If Indiana can beat Ohio State with solid play the entire game (no flukes), it will make them look like more of a legitimate contender. I still give them zero chance of being National Champions.
