Although we have the same score, I appreciate you listing me above the damn cat. Helps save a little of my dignity. And congrats on a nice week.

It was touch and go as to whether he needed to go to the hospital, but he made some significant improvement on Saturday, so for that, I'm thankful. The downside...no game. And no casino (not that there's any casino close to Tallahassee anyway...although they have a new poker room. . I think I'm going to try to go to the Syracuse game in a couple of weeks.

And no casino (not that there's any casino close to Tallahassee anyway...although they have a new poker room. . I think I'm going to try to go to the Syracuse game in a couple of weeks. sorry you missed the game, but i hope your little one is doing ok. back in '98 i had plans to take my dad to the osu-um game, but my 9 year old daughter at the time wanted to go, and my dad immediately backed off, despite my protests, because i thought it might be too cold for her. so we're at the skull session (band warm up) and she says her stomach feels funny. i'd brought some bagels/cream cheese for her, since she liked that, so i gave her those to munch on. we walk over to the stadium, get in our seats, and as the band comes down for ramp entrance she utters the words every dad in this situation dreads. daddy, i don't feel good. all the couples sitting around us (you get to know the folks in your section after a while) offer her hot chocolate, snacks, etc. i took off my ski jacket and gave it to her to wear to stay warm. about 15 minutes later the teams are lined up for the opening kick off and kelsey now says something i couldn't believe. daddy, i'm sick. i want to go home. uh oh. i offer a sip of my coke (it was supposed to be medicinal when it was invented, right?) and to get her something else to eat. but she'll have none of it. she wants to go home. i'm telling her maybe its just the excitement of the michigan game, and let's sit here a couple minutes to see. i'm looking around for support, and guys are avoiding eye contact with me. the unthinkable is now becoming a possibility. one of the girls nearby suggests that maybe the medics downstairs have pepto bismal or something similar. so, 5 minutes into the game, i'm taking my girl underneath a deck. she's now crying, saying 'daddy, i'm sick. daddy, i'm sick.' we walk by a columbus police officer, who asks if everything is ok, looking at me like i'm an abusive father. i tell him, looks like she has an upset stomach and she's wanting to go home. he starts giggling, a police officer, giggling at me. tells me good luck and goes on his way. we make it over to the medic area, which has about 50 cots and about 15 people of various ages who've already, at 12:30, are so drunk they can't stand up. i tell one of the aides about my plight. ok, kelsey's plight. she says they aren't allowed to dispense any medicine... just give people a place to sleep things off. but if we have to leave, they do have someone who will drive us out to our car. i sigh, ask if she can watch my daughter for a minute so i can go back up to my seat and get our stuff. it's now early in the 2nd quarter. osu is up 14-0 and on its way to a 31-16 win, just the 2nd for the bucks in the rivalry in over a decade, and it didn't take long for the people around my seat to realize that i was leaving. i think every woman in that part of the stadium immediately wanted to ask me out (ok, maybe wishful thinking but i got a lot of loving looks), and every guy had the same thought the guy behind me did, when he asked how old my daughter was, and then said 'i think that's old enough for her to take a cab by herself'. you would have thought that would have gotten a laugh from everyone, but most of the guys had a 'well? isn't she?' look on their face, instead. i got my stuff, kels and i got a ride to our car, and we were home on the nw side of columbus in exactly 12 minutes. there was no one on the streets. turned out she was sick, and threw up about 20 minutes after we got home and then slept the rest of the day. and i watched the entire 2nd half of the game, with her sleeping on my lap, in my living room. silently. except for my dad calling my cell immediately after the game, and commenting on how quiet it seemed around me. i told him i changed seats during the game. again, hope your little one is doing better. mark scott tosu 81 (sorry to the osu folks here, who i think have read this story once or twice before. it's the only part of a home michigan game i've missed since '74, so it kind of stands out for me. lol)

Good story Mark. I haven't missed a season in 25 years going to at least one FSU game, and this year was special as the old man and I were going to ditch the wives and go. He was disappointed, but understood.
Its a 5 hour trek to Tallahassee, so making a home game takes some planning. Syracuse is my remaining hope as I can't go to the Idaho game the next weekend due to a trial.
Normally I'd see if I could sneak up to Gainesville the Saturday after Thanksgiving, but with family staying at our house...the wife would skin me alive.

I'll take a stab at this weeks "unofficial" standings....
1. Dalek +24 (5-5) 2. Trn +14 (5-5) 3. CW +7 (6-4) 4. Beuycek +6 (3-7) 5. ED +4 (3-7) 6. Robb +3 (6-4) 7. Al1 +2 (6-4) 8. MScott -2 (5-5) 9. Cb -4 (6-4) 10. Gatr -6 (4-6) 11. Ihs -10 (5-5) 12. Kaz -10 (4-6) 13. Walt -10 (4-6) 14. Lee -37 (5-5) 15. Fred -41 (6-4)
Note: The cat "Max" was purposefully left out because a) he's a cat and b) he's really just Walt's second chance each week and no one else here gets a second chance to get it right on the tougher games. Btw..."Max" went 5-5 this week. My pet snake would have picked Baylor and ND and gone 8-2 this week.

Walt, Perhaps we can pin this thread, and I'll just update it as we go along. We'll just keep the final tally in this thread that way I can access and update it easily. After week 11: You Got Lucky:Dalek: +24 Running Down a Dream:Trn: +14 Max: +10 (Yes...this is a cat). Beuy: +8 CWG: +8 I Won't Back Down:ET: +4 Robb: +4 A1: +2 Learnin' To Fly:MScott: -2 cbis: -4 Gatr: -6 Free Fallin': Walt: -10 Kaz: -10 IHS: -10 Even The Losers:Flotus: -37 Fred: -40 Don't Come Round Here No More:Willie: DQ / DNF / Subject to major ridicule -923 I think we have four weeks left. It took me six weeks to go from -10 to +2 so unless Dalek gets a couple of 2-8/3-7 weeks and I get 8-2/7-3 weeks during those same weeks I'm done. Trn, Beuycek, and CW are still very much in it imo, but they'll have to get hot this week. It ain't over!
