QB Blake Bell (The Belldozer) has changed position from quarterback to tight end. Good luck Blake .
I'm glad for him, but my guess is he will also end up playing some QB next year. First of all, the Trevor Knight everyone saw in the Sugar Bowl wasn't the same Trevor Knight we OU fans saw all year long. So, expectations may be a bit high. Second, Knight has been very injury prone and this is a big concern.
I wouldn't be surprised if Bell took over for Knight, if needed. It doesn't look like anyone else will be ready to play qb (Kendal Thompson is leaving and Baker Mayfield will have to sit out a year. The other qbs are inexperienced). Meanwhile, at tight end Blake will have a chance to play immediately. That is, if things work out as expected.

Trevor Knight certainly looked brilliant in the Sugar Bowl. Any inside story about what he was smoking in New Orleans that night?

For a team with Final Four aspirations, this has gone unreported here:
NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma was hoping to have the talented quartet of wideout Dorial Green-Beckham, running back Joe Mixon, linebacker Frank Shannon and quarterback Baker Mayfield on the field this season.
Green-Beckham and Mixon have already been ruled out. Mayfield is still waiting to hear whether the NCAA will grant him an eligibility waiver. And Monday, Shannon wasn’t listed in Oklahoma’s Week 1 depth chart.
Bob Stoops said his focus is on the Sooners playing in 2014, not the talented ones who are ineligible. “I’ve got to proceed with players that I know are going to be available to me through the rest of the year,” coach Bob Stoops said during his first weekly news conference. “So at this point the depth chart is as it is.”
As the Sooners prepare for Saturday’s opener against Louisiana Tech, Stoops wanted to talk about the players that will be on the field this year.
But the dominant story line this preseason has been about the players that won’t be on the field. And it popped up again Monday.
Late last week, the NCAA ruled that Green-Beckham would not qualify for immediate eligibility under the run-off exception after transferring from Missouri.
Stoops said it “hasn’t been decided” whether Green-Beckham will be back with the Sooners in 2015, though Stoops added that “it seems like that he wants to do that and is heading that way.”
But this season, Green-Beckham would have supplied quarterback Trevor Knight with a dangerous receiving weapon on the outside. Instead, the Sooners will be relying on several inexperienced pass-catchers to fill the void at receiver alongside three-year starter Sterling Shepard.
“We’ve got 10 other guys or eight other [receivers] or whatever it is that we’re working with on a daily basis,” Stoops said. “So you work with what’s available to you.”
It doesn’t look like Shannon will be available to the Sooners, either. He’s appealed the university’s decision to suspend him for a year for allegedly violating the school’s code of conduct to a district court. But as long as Shannon remains tied up in legal issues, Oklahoma’s leading tackler last year won’t be part of the plans.
“That situation is still unresolved,” Stoops said.
As of Monday, Mayfield’s situation remains unresolved, as well, forcing the Sooners to move forward with making Cody Thomas their backup quarterback. Thomas redshirted last year, and has been dealing with a muscle strain. That has led former quarterback and current starting tight end Blake Bell to take snaps in practice, as a break-the-glass option, in case of an injury to Knight.
“You obviously want the best for those guys and it hurts to see it go on the opposite side of that line,” Knight said. “You want the best for them and whether or not it works out for them this year, you stay positive with them and hope things will work out in the future.”
As for the present, the Sooners will have to roll with the players currently eligible. That’s still enough to keep them the preseason favorite in the Big 12 and a legitimate contender for the inaugural College Football Playoff.
And while this preseason could have gone better, Stoops is still excited about the players that will be in the game.
“Our guys go to practice every day and the guys on the field have competed in a great way,” Stoops said. “I feel we’re in a great position, ready to start the season.”

FWIW, my take on the situations is as follows:
Joe Mixon--justified suspension for the damage that was caused. He has been charged with a misdemeanor and imo charges should have been brought against both parties. And she should get the same suspension from OU that he did.
She's being treated differently because she is a she. I don't care if she's a girl (and that's one of the publicly stated reasons he was charged)...she doesn't get to be a drunken fool and instigate a confrontation by slapping someone in the face, spitting at him and calling him a n-word. Baker Mayfield--screwed by Texas Tech and should be ruled immediately eligible by NCAA. If he isn't, he's getting screwed again.
Frank Shannon--totally fucked over. No charges filed, both parties admit there was no sexual contact but the case legally had to go to a Title IX hearing with the university and that is why he is suspended. He is a PC victim imo. He appealed the suspension to a district judge and won. OU then appealed that decision to the state Supreme Court and I hope Shannon wins that case and is able to play.
Dorial Green-Beckham--was against OU bringing him in in the first place and the appeal to the NCAA was a sham imo. The NCAA got it right and he deserves to sit a year. He and OU were trying to take advantage of the "out of the player's control" rule and imo that was a bunch of bullshit from day one.
The biggest loss is Frank Shannon. He was OU's leading tackler last year. Second biggest would be Mayfield because OU has almost zero depth at QB. The other 2 were always wild cards. OU is pretty well set at running back, so losing Mixon isn't a killer. And DGB was never expected to be at OU anyway, so it's hard to count him as a loss when he was never there in the first place.
But, life goes on. Every team has stuff that happens and you just have to deal with it. Boomer Sooner.

The belldozer can still play backup QB. Bobby recruits well so OU is far from lost.

The belldozer can still play backup QB. Bobby recruits well so OU is far from lost. Overall, OU will be fine...their issues aren't all that different from lots of other teams. You just deal with it and Stoops has shown himself to be pretty good at dealing with stuff.
As for Bell, he's the starting tight end. I imagine that every now and then he will do some Belldozer stuff, but he isn't the backup QB. Right now, it is Cody Thomas, a redshirt freshman. If Mayfield is cleared, he will most likely be the backup.
If something does happen to Trevor Knight (fwiw he only finished 3 of the 5 games he started last year) the saving grace is the OL is very deep and experienced. The running backs are pretty good, too. A new QB will not have to be a superstar, just a guy who can hand the ball off and hit a few passes here and there.
