Tennessee salvaged the final game of the weekend series at home against bama by scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th to win 10-9 after bama broke an 8-8 tie by scoring 1 run in the top of the 9th. UF and bama are now tied at 12-6 overall in SEC play with 12 conference games to play. UF plays Missouri in Gainesville next weekend while bama plays at South Carolina. In two weeks, the tide hosts the Gators in Tuscaloosa.

Shit! Damn! Hell! UF plays a lackluster game and loses 3-1 to Jacksonville, a team that was 12 games below .500. (shaking head)
The only good thing about the game was that Karsten Whitson pitched 5 scoreless innings. It was his longest stint of the season. We could use an extra good pitcher the rest of the way.

O'Sullivan has done an outstanding job except for most of these crapper games. There is no way this can't be considered to be a bad loss.

UF 7 Mizzou 1
This is definitely a Dr. Jeckyl & Mr. Hyde team.
UF is 28-15 (13-6), has a two game lead over USC in the East, and a one game lead over bama for best SEC record.

FSU is in the middle of a big series against number 1 Virginia. Lost the first one last night 5-3 in ten innings, with Mr. Winston taking the loss.
FSU had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th with 1 out and couldn't push across a run for the win. When we didn't get one there, I figured we would lose.
Our Saturday starter has been out injured for a month or two, and won't pitch today, so unless FSU can find some bats against Virginia's very stout hurlers, looks like we'll probably drop the series.
Last night would've been a big one to get, as I think we'll win Sunday with our Sunday guy. FSU has 3 outstanding starters, and several good relievers. If we make Omaha, we have the arms to go deep into the tourney....but our bats are streaky.
And sadly....our fielding is not good. 2 more errors last night.

If we make Omaha, we have the arms to go deep into the tourney....but our bats are streaky. Go nolies! Personally, I think the cavaliers can be had as they have not been as battle tested as FSU. UVA hasn't played a strong enough schedule to convince me that they deserve that #1 ranking. Maybe they will prove it against FSU. It's a good thing FSU has a good lead in their division. The cavaliers don't have that luxury with the candy canes breathing down their necks. Three years ago, UF was playing USC in the World Series final. In the first game, UF was down 2-1 in the bottom of the 9th, but had the bases loaded with no outs. The Gators with a high powered homerun hitting offense didn't score and lost a game that they should have won and lost the series the next night. Bottom line, I think it takes a combo of being hot at the right time along with talent and luck to win the CWS. While I sit here thinking that neither UF or FSU have the offense to get it done at the CWS, all it takes is the right combo of events to make it happen.

Hey Kevin, it's your job to get them to focus and bear down in every game. UF is not good enough to let up on any team. Losing at home to Jax and FAMU shouldn't have happened:
Postgame Quotes
Head coach Kevin O’Sullivan
On tonight’s game:
“We beat a really good pitcher tonight. I don’t know how high in the draft he’s going to go, but he’s for sure going in the first couple of rounds anyways. It thought we had much better at bats; it’s amazing what 48 hours will do for you. We squared up some balls tonight. Obviously, the error there in the second inning by the second baseman helped us, but overall our at bats were better.
Logan (Shore) was as good as he’s been in a long time. We had no walks as a staff and made one error so it was a much better game than Tuesday or Wednesday. The bottom line is that when this team focuses and bears down, it’s got a chance to beat anybody. But, unfortunately, in this game, you can also lose to anybody as well. I’m really pleased at how we bounced back; it was a really good team win and, like I said, I was really pleased with the at bats against a really quality pitcher.”

UF 5-9-0 Mizzou 0-1-3
UF is now 29-15 (14-6). Freshman Aaron Rhodes pitched a complete game 1 hitter. It's the only complete game by a UF pitcher this season.
UF has its Friday and Saturday starters in freshmen Logan Shore and sophomore Aaron Rhodes. If Karsten Whitson can get past his injury problems, pitched 6 innings of shutout ball against Jax last Wednesday, he would make an excellent Sunday starter. Before arm injuries limited his play, Whitson was considered to be a can't miss MLB prospect.
The Gators have won the weekend series with Mizzou and breakout the brooms on Sunday afternoon.
I don't want to think about mid-week games so up next in SEC play for UF is at bama next weekend.
