interesting note. obviously a lot of their requests involve issues we've discussed on our forums over the years. that said, i chuckled at the opening salvo, claiming that 7-18% of student-athletes at 20 schools can't read above an 8th grade level. if the ncaa has rules and apr standards in place, and the universities are skirting around the rules, exactly who is at fault? workers comp question as it relates to the health/safety of student-athletes? a legit question. class time missed because of the ncaa tournament? no more than any weekend road trip by basketball teams thru the course of the season. less, i'd argue, since the majority of the games are played thur-sun, unlike the regular season, which might actually put more academic stress on players. as for the $$ made by the tourney? conflict of interest? absolutely. why are students required to sit out a year to transfer when coaches don't have to? legit. how does the ncaa 'ensure' that member institutions are giving students a qualified education? that's a question for the universities. all 350+ of them in the 3 ncaa divisions. a lot of this is akin to the parents of adult children being blamed for their kids' crimes/mistakes. the individual schools have to be held accountable for many of these issues. so yes, the piling on factor is certainly factored in here. mark scott tosu 81
