Scott is joe's son...he after paterno hired his own lawyer prior to testifying to the 2011 grand jury regarding Sandusky, psu in house lawyer Cynthia Baldwin was so mad that she threatened joe with retribution. Scott said he was in the room when it happened. Cynthia is the state's star witness against the psu administrators. A federal judge is currently deciding if she should be allowed to testify bc the psu administrators said her testimony violated attorney client privilege as they were under the impression she was representing them, not the university. It is so complex that it has been five months and he still hasn't made a ruling.
What's more fascinating is that scott paterno said that Cynthia fled the country a few months bc she fears being subpoenaed. He said she has not come back and even if she is allowed to testify, the attorney generals office is worried she won't come back. Just another ridiculous twist in a ridiculous scandal.
I think current attorney General Kathleen Kane drops charges after this federal judge rules baldwins testimony is not allowed. This gives her political coverage against any backlash for dropping the charges. I think she then releases a very thorough and damning report against the states attorney generals office under Tom Corbett sometime this fall in time to impact the gov election in November.

I don't see anything odd about that....counsel is permitted to be in the room (but not give advice if I understand it correctly) and Joe Pa had his counsel of choice. Having counsel available is for the protection of the witness, in this case Joe Pa.

corbett will be heavily scrutinized (and out of office) Why this hasn't already happened is surprising to me. He has just as much to answer for as the three who face charges due to his involvement in the commissioning of, and acceptance, of the Freeh Report.

He has just as much to answer for as the three who face charges due to his involvement in the commissioning of, and acceptance, of the Freeh Report. kathleen kane was elected attorney general shortly after sandusky's arrest and immediately assigned a special prosecutor to investigate the previous administrations role in prosecuting sandusky (ie why it took so long). a few months ago, kane said that the report is taking longer than expected to complete b/c of the slow recovery method of e-mails previously though to be permanently deleted. they also need judicial approval for some of the finding and are in the process of giving people mentioned in the report an opportunity to respond before the report is released publicly. just last week, kane's special prosecutor met with gov corbett to discuss the report. the cynics (ie corbett supporting republicans) across the state have already preempted the release of the report by saying she's just playing politics and is refusing to release the report because she wants to maximize impact on the gov election in november.

Not a lot of grass ever grew under Paterno's feet imo. this video is a phone interview joe paterno did w/ a tampa radio station nearly one month before he testified in front of a grand jury. does this sound like a guy who had it together? keep in mind, one month later, the man in this video testified with specific details about a 10 year old conversation he had with a graduate assistant.

Come on. If you have ever been involved with a telephone interview, particularly with a cell phone you would know that this kind of stuff is very common.
In any event, here is a press conference after the Outback Bowl on January 1, 2011. He testified before the Grand Jury later that same month. He doesn't look incapacitated to me. How about you?

I was in my truck on the way home when this interview took place and I remember laughing about how poorly executed it was on both ends. How they let him on the air before ensuring both parties could hear each other is beyond me. BTW, the host of that show, Steve Duemig, is the highest rated sports radio show in the area, which should tell you all you need to know about how bad of a sports area Tampa Bay is. Funny story about him, too... in the days leading up to the 2003 Fiesta Bowl, he began opening his show each day with the Miami Hurricanes fight song, because he was supposedly a fan, although he never could quite explain how that came to be. Anyway, I was the first caller to his show that Friday, the day of the game and decided to ask him why a Tampa radio host from Philadelphia had come to be such a huge Hurricanes fan. He danced around the question then changed the subject to how Ohio State was "going to get their brains beat in" that night, etc. I wouldn't let him off the hook, though mainly because he is famous for his stance that if you move to a city, you should give up your loyalties to where you came from and be a fan of the team where you now live (one of the dumbest arguments ever). I continued to ask why he wasn't a South Florida fan or even a UF fan due to the closer proximity to that campus and he claimed loyalties to a college team where different than a pro team (again, terrible argument). So of course, I asked again what made him a Miami fan when he had never lived there, never gone to the school and had no real connection to the school at all. His response was a friend of his had taken him to a couple of games and he was hooked. When I replied, "you're kidding me, right?" he called me the first dumbass of 2003 and hung up on me. Quite a start to his show and the other Buckeyes fans in the area called in en mass afterwards and blasted him. Pretty funny. Interesting post script, too... I emailed him years later when the Canes were terrible and asked if he was still a huge fan. He denied ever being one, despite me recapping our conversation all those years ago. Needless to say, I wasn't at all surprised.
