The NCAA did focus on the football program and imo that was no accident. That UNC tutor drew a road map that wasn't fully followed. Again, jmo. And I agree that the players do have some responsibility.
one other interesting tidbit that i've seen here re: osu. there was no extension for the buckeye club deadline on getting season tickets back in the spring, but the tickets the osu alumni association get to sell is a different story. used to be that buckeye club members weren't eligible for the alumni ticket lottery. now that's changed and we are eligible. also, the deadline to get into the lottery has been extended twice. never seen that before either. maybe it's a hiccup and nothing more. just makes me wonder if even as fervent a fan base as osu's may be approaching a point where they can't or won't pay $85, $116 (va tech game) or $156 (um game) per ticket to attend a game.

The O'Bannon trial scared the NCAA to death. Can't remember the last time they settled out of court on a big issue like this.
Seems that both EA and the schools raised questions about using player images from the beginning...but, the NCAA went full steam ahead. All to protect the amateur model and the student-athletes, mind you. Not to protect their business model. Yeah, right.
No idea what is going on at OSU, but fan interest is a big issue at all schools these days. The TV money is a double edged sword and the students are the ones attending less and less or leaving games early.
