Despite losing tonight, Oklahoma State fought hard enough to earn their own thread.

Jeff Cameron, local FSU homer, on his show Friday was predicting FSU's second team would be in the game before halftime. Can't wait to hear his show Tuesday.

They played smart and aggressive most of the game. No question how talented the noles are, but vs a better team last night they could have easily lost. Mark Scott Tosu 81

1. Timmy Jernigan is a tremendous loss at DT. He can't be replaced by any two DTs on FSU's roster.
2. FSU showed one excellent WR. Last season, they had two. The other one is in the NFL now.
3. Surprisingly, FSU's OL had trouble opening up running lanes. This will be fixed by game two.
4. Fameis Jameis has shown that he can be rattled with pressure. Last season, he faced little pressure. My guess is teams won't let him stand back in the pocket and pick them apart all game which would be a guaranteed loss.
Bottom line, FSU has an outstanding team. However, I think they are 1/2 a notch below last season. They are good enough to make the Final Four, but I don't know if they are good enough to repeat.
Oklahoma State showed fight and courage. They are to be complimented for taking the game to the better team. However, there are no moral victories and I really don't think they deserve this special recognition thread.

I think it was a major shift when Jameis threw a pick at the 6 yard line when we were poised to go up 24-0. If we score there...the Cowboys pack it in.
Bottom line, we got complacent and they played tough for 60 minutes. Credit to them.
As for Jernigan...I agree he can't be replaced right now. But we are deeper this year at DT than last year....with overall better talent...but no real experience beyond our starters. Plus, with OK State going up tempo...we couldn't rotate like we like to do.
As for WR...I said we needed one guy to step up opposite Rashad. We haven't found him yet. I put part of that on Winston. I felt like he was rattled and didn't feel comfortable throwing it to anyone but Greene, even though we have some other talent. I hope the next game works out some rapport between Winston and the younger guys...
Our corners are outstanding. Linebackers did very well. Safety had good moment. I was most disappointed with the offensive line. We couldn't generate any run game. That bothers me. I read that the offensive line had the flu...but no excuse. We need to get that shored up fast.
Lastly... I want Mario Pender to run the ball more.

You know Harry, you do so well with the Oklahoma thread that I think I'll let you have it. Oh, from time to time, I'll comment--but from now on it's primarily your project, k?

Rosie,
Very tough way for the Cowboys to start an NCAA season. Who scheduled Florida State for them?
(I have to confess that I have been a closet Cowboys fan-- at least since the days when Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas were playing in Stillwater-- unless they were playing the Buffs, of course...)
But, no matter how good the Cowboys are, the Sooners always seem to have their number-- year after year. It's like an Oklahoma version of the "curse of the Bambino" or something...

Rosie, Very tough way for the Cowboys to start an NCAA season. Who scheduled Florida State for them? (I have to confess that I have been a closet Cowboys fan-- at least since the days when Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas were playing in Stillwater-- unless they were playing the Buffs, of course...) But, no matter how good the Cowboys are, the Sooners always seem to have their number-- year after year. It's like an Oklahoma version of the "curse of the Bambino" or something... Oklahoma athletic director Mike Holder and coach Mike Gundy have had disagreements about scheduling non-conference games. Holder wanted to schedule challenging teams and Gundy wanted games that his players had the best chance of winning. At one point, the tension was great enough for Gundy to consider leaving Oklahoma State to take the Tenn vols job. Gundy decided to stay at Ok State and, apparently, Gundy and Holder have worked through their differences. For the second year in a row, Ok State has played in the Cowboy Classic Kickoff game in Arlington, Texas. (Last year OSU's opponent was Mississippi State--a less challenging opponent than Florida State, but better than Savannah State or some such school). These kickoff games have attractive payouts and the Dallas-Ft. Worth metro is one of Oklahoma State's big recruiting areas. Of course, it's not a probable win (a la Savannah State) so it could be risky and in the case of playing Florida State this year, it was. It's ok. You can be a fan of more than one school. Go Sooners! Go Pokes! You can be a fan of individual players, bands, jerseys, coaches, fight songs...whatever:). Yes, Ok State needs to get over that OU "head thing." Boone Pickens says so.
