For future consideration:
Rule 1: Suspensions or injuries to star players announced after the game week thread has been posted will result in the withdrawal of the game. It keeps the integrity of the tournament fair for all of the participants; nobody wins, loses, or gets an advantage. Just go with one less game that week in the official totals. When possible, an announcement should be made in the game week thread.
Rule 2: In the absence of suspensions or injuries to star players, what gets posted on Wednesday in the game week thread should stay unchanged. We all win or lose with the spread that is set after a couple of days with the game having been in play in Vegas.
Rule 3: If it's known that a star player has been injured or suspended prior to the posting of the game week thread, that game will not be selected as one of the games of the week.
Please comment on the above and make any suggestions you think can better improve the integrity of the tournament.

As I posted in the other thread, I think this should be totally line driven. It matters not what the cause of the line change, only that it did. Establish a threshold...3 points, 4 points...whatever, and use that. Otherwise there are simply too many ways a line can be affected...could be bad weather, could be coach fired, could be anything. But whatever it is, I'd say, fix the line and re-pick if there's still, say, 36 hours, (to pick a time frame) before the game and then yank it if it is past that line..

And as I said on the other thread, Trn ain't getten paid to do this. Make it a real pain in the ass to manage and it'll be gone. This isn't for bucks. How many games has this come up B4? And it is only one game, 2 pts.

Leave the decision to him, since it's his time we're talkin' about. And so, if that is how it will be, how many points is an automatic yank? I'd say 3 points. A line can change a point or two for no other reason than the action, so that shouldn't trigger anything. But 3 points would be an unusual line change in just a few days and would indicate some issue.

Live or die with whatever happens during the week....and that includes changes to the line. My only suggestion is that posted picks are sacrosanct....once you post them you have to live with them.....

I DO agree that (if you want) you can change your pick before the game starts BUT if for some reason, Trn doesn't catch it or there is some confusion then YOU pay the price for last minute change....Things WILL happen...So what ? It's not like there is money involved....Jeesh

It isn't solely my decision...I just recognize the possible unfairness inherent in the game if it is done that way. The lines aren't arbitrary...I'm not making them up as we go along. However, if circumstances cause an unusual change in the lines, then in effect, the line does become arbitrary, and players are rewarded for making picks as late as possible....which I detest. Making your picks sacred once they're picked only serves to make people pick them as late as possible, thereby making more work for me...clearly, that ain't in my best interest. I don't necessarily want to spend my Saturday mornings trying to discern everyone's picks.
Not to mention the fact the inherent unfairness there is for me. I'm putting together the group on Wednesday so you all have plenty of time to analyze, review, research, or feed the cat. By extension, when I list the games, I make my picks. I guess I can stop doing that, but then I gotta do all the write ups, then show up again on Saturday. But again....most of this makes more work for me. Part of the enjoyment for me in this game is picking the games, and then choosing who I like and listing why I like the team I pick. It's also the reason I like reading Mark's picks....he goes through stats and history...just makes the whole process more interesting to me.
Bottom line, I want the game to be fun. In order for it to be fun, it has to be fair. I don't think anyone should obtain an unfair advantage simply by waiting until the last possible moment to render their picks just to see what circumstances may occur. If the group wants it to remain the same....that's fine. We can do it that way.
One other rule I'm toying with that is something in the same wheelhouse. If we get down to the last week, and we have 2, 3, 4 folks who have a chance to catch...I see a possible manipulation of the rules. If one guy is in the lead, and only one other guy can catch him...what is to stop him from simply copying the picks of the #2 man to create an automatic tie and thereby win? I'm kicking around the idea of making the picks in the last week by secret ballot merely to create some more intrigue. Either that, or make the #1 guy pick first to let the #2 guy pick enough differing games to give him a sporting chance.
Just a thought...

Based on my infinite knowledge of college football, I try to make my picks as close to the time Trn posts them as possible. Trn, post the game week on Wednesday morning with a requirement that the picks must be in by a time certain on Thursday. Changes are locked out after that time. Players can't be late like cwg was this week.

Bets have been placed. It would be illegal to cancel the bets, a felony punishable by water balloon.

I agree with Robb...once the picks are made that's it and they stand.
