this is going to get good. with the consent decree trial between PA and the NCAA set to begin in January (all of the NCAA's efforts to delay have been emphatically rejected), psu and the ncaa are now going to turn on each other and blame the other side for all the awful decisions made in the summer of 2012. Penn State, who up until yesterday, took the strategy of throwing recently deceased Joe Paterno behind a bus and repeatedly run him over until everybody stopped paying attention. But yesterday, for the first time, they showed signs of fighting for the school. they had a bit of a testy response to the e-mails released by the NCAA. collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/11/05/penn-state-officials-deeply-disturbed-by-ncaa-emails/“We find it deeply disturbing that NCAA officials in leadership positions would consider bluffing one of their member institutions, Penn State, to accept sanctions outside of their normal investigative and enforcement process,” according to the statement by Barron and Chairman of the Board of Trustees Keith Masser. The statement released Tuesday evening was signed by both. “We are considering our options,” the statement from Barron continues. “It is important to understand, however, that Penn State is in the midst of a number of legal and civil cases associated with these matters … Penn State’s commitment to the fight against child abuse and to the implementation of best practice governance, ethics and compliance programs and policies remains steadfast.” Popcorn is ready.

No surprise on psu's pr strategy, that's for sure. Saying 'they made us do it!' makes a much better impression for the home folks than 'we agreed with them and with the consequences'. Mark Scott Tosu 81 well this would be the first time since the scandal that the psu leaders have considered the feelings of the university instead of the usual cowardly corporate pr strategy.

The "cowardly, corporate PR strategy" is the same one that Penn State used from the get go....well before the scandal broke. One big reason that Sandusky got away with things for so long is because the powers that be were protecting the corporation.

seems strange that all these people working with altruistic organizations care more about covering themselves than innocent children.
