I have actually used this season as an experiment of sorts to see how much value there is in doing extensive research or none at all. Last year I was a +10 and spent quite a bit of time researching each game each week. The funny thing about last year was I was +8 after the first week and only +2 the rest of the way so I wasn't sure how valuable my research was. This year, I made a conscious decision to wing it and see where I landed. I obviously follow college football closely and have a feel for which team is good, bad or ugly but in terms of in depth analysis of each game, I did next to nothing this year. The result? I am sitting at +9 on the year. So in summary, I have no idea either. Both approaches have worked about the same for me. Mark is running away with this year's tourney but he was a -8 last year so I would be interested to know if he changed his approach at all. I know he also follows a few games a week very closely (for entertainment purposes only, of course) so I would suspect he hasn't and if so, I guess it just comes down to this being gambling and if you win more than you lose, you should consider it a success. I had a similar experience, which is what begat the idea of letting Max make picks. I spent a lot of time going through stats and such and was getting terrible results. So I thought...let's let MAXIE try it and see what happens. Yes and last year you were beat by a pussy. Don't really know if thats a good or a bad thing?

I believe it's good women, good whiskey and good cigars, in that order. OH....you meant in football pools.... I have no idea. In my case the mutt filled in the holes last yr. Starting last yrs bowl season, she went on the IR, probably retired list.
Suggestion for next yr, if there's a next yr, perhaps we throw in a cpl of Ivy games or some such group of schools. Curve ball, so to speak.

As I was watching this weekend I thought I should have put Harvard-Yale on the list. Rivalry. Both teams are pretty good. Opportunity missed. In the past, I've also thought about putting a game on the list that had a close line, but nobody otherwise would care about....but ultimately dismissed the idea as it really didn't seem to fit in with what we all watched and cared about in the top echelons.

It's a hard thing to do during the regular season, mostly, IMO, because most of those types of games aren't on TV, but perhaps we could include some lower division playoff games in the Bowl series. A lot of those will be televised and sometimes those are really great games to watch, better in fact than watching B10 #5 vs SEC #6 in some Chia Pet Bowl.

Letz watch only SEC games (and Spartan games)!!! Yeah, that's the ticket !!!

Didn't change anything much. Little bit of luck for sure helps. Both in the pool and elsewhere, this year has been much more entertaining. Ha

I vote no to using the lower divisions playoff to go along with the bowls. I don't know anything about those team and I don't watch the games. UF just beat playoff bound Eastern Kentucky 52-3. It would be like making picks on JV football. Please don't do it.
